Check it out on Wikipedia...
Goes back a little bit further than this year, not that the Beeb would in these days of cost cutting at the Aunty, be too bothered to do any more research than they absolutely have to -- or lift quotes from Wikipedia etc.
Several links from the Wiki page go to other places where it is discussed.

I'm on the E-board of my photo club at my school, a member went and shot at it, but he's a Canut so I'm not going to post his photos here.
He offered me to join him, but I have classes.

Interesting link, those are some very nice sunset shots for sure. I wonder how traffic is effected when all those shooters fill the streets at once! Some of the pictures in the BBC article show people just flooding streets like 134th. Pretty amazing I bet it causes more than a few complications. Either way, very cool thanks for the link Skintbrit.

Thanks Kanuck, being a country boy I just found the article thought provoking in that there are people in the world who don't normally see the sun set. I'd never thought about it, I suppose I just take it for granted. Some of those pictures look great, and seeing all those people on the street engaged in a common cause, looked to me like a frame from a Hollywood movie.
