    Hello,

Has anyone tried a lens hood from other manufacturers in Nikon lenses? I lost the hood of my Nikon 16-85, and a new one from Nikon costs $ 30 USD. For example, a Pearstone brand hood costs $ 13 USD.

I am interested in a bayonet mount hood.

    Thanks for your help,

    Alfonso

    Try Adorama brand hoods
    http://www.adorama.com/SearchSite/Default.aspx?searchinfo=lens+hoods&category=4294963370+4294967160

Or search B&H Photo. They have lots and lots of hoods too.

Mamiya has a nice collapsible rubber lens hood, if you're interested.

And it's not bayonet mount, it's a filter threaded mount so it'll work between your lenses too.

I haven't used it, but I guess it's good because it's not going to crack like a plastic hood might.

    Thank you for your answer

I had seen this link. I allready have a rubber hood from Zeikos, but the it vignetts until 24 mm.

I wanted to know if anyone has experience with a hood bayonet made by third parties, such as Pearstone LHN-HB39 Dedicated Lens Hood HB-39 ($13 at BH). I have read few good reviews, but others not so favorable.

    Thanks,

    Alfonso

I got the Adorama lens hood for my Nikon 80- 200 Af-D ED. The original one from Nikon for that particular lens was bayonet type, the Adorama one used the updated version from 0 - 200 and adopted it to fit the 80-200. Overall pretty nice hood. They only thing that it lacks is that fabric on the inside that prevents sun's reflection.

I believe Hoodman makes the rubber collapsable type that might interest you. Adorama makes great stuff too as Niko mentioned.
