I hope this message is not out of thread identity, if so please direct me.
I have taken Movie shots with D7000 and transferred to computer. Without exception,
Software collapses and and program closes when tjhese segments are identified.
What seems to be the problem?

Anyone have a PDF file or something that can be used as a go by for ViewNX2, some kind of user guide?

@top ... NX2 user guide? Press F1. Seriously - the help file is less of a help file and more a glossy user guide!
@trolta55 ... What version of NX2 is being used (help/about will tell you), as it was updated not too long ago with some bug fixes.
I think people are expecting NX3 some time soon, so that might be more stable. There are better video editing programs than NX2 (some might say ANY other video editing software is better, but that's another matter), so you might want to look at those instead?

it uses up a lot of the resources of the computer, and depending on the configuration of your computer, ram, speed etc. it will freeze or go blank.
try closing all other programs that you are running and see if it helps.

Thanks from me too, bjrichus. I was unaware of that F1 function as well. It answered a lot of questions I was having with editing in it but one.
When I'm done editing it reduces the file size by over 50%. I can't find were the setting for that adjustment is. Anyone know?

Are you editing RAW or JPG?
If you export a RAW file to a JPG (in the convert files dialog), even if you make sure the slider is all the way to the right (not just one 'click'), for highest quality and you'll see that the file size will indeed go down... JPG files are just smaller than RAW.
If you are editing a JPG file, I do sometimes see what would appear to be a random reduction in file size. I can't say I have ever read up on the details of the JPG formats (there are several), as I use RAW wherever I can and convert to JPG as the very last stage in the workflow. Remember, a JPG file is a compressed file and I do sometimes wonder if different programs compress the image differently, even if the file ends up as a ".jpg" file... If so, then it's YARFNUJ "Yet another reason for not using JPG" ;)

JPG......I edited my raw in Lightroom and saved as jpeg. It came out 3.5M and then I did some sharpening in ViewNX2 and it came out of there at 1.4M.

Agreed!

I have now seen the light and understand what you've all been saying about Raw! Huge difference in editing last night and it really didn't take any longer to do.
