Nikon really screwed up in my opinion by underestimating the popularity of this lens. One is tempted to say that at the going price,it is an excellent lens....but in my opinion they could have charged a couple of hundred bucks more and no one would have felt that they were ripped off....I absoutely love this lens!!

still don't get why it's out of stock in US, and at the same time there are no problems with availability in Europe

I just pre-ordered mine from J and R.
My friend went in and asked, he said they don't have them in stock long enough to update them online because they only come in 5 or 10 at a time. Of course though, they'll ship it to you first thing when they get them in.
And before anyone asks why order from them for $220, I got the lens for free because of rewards points on a credit card.

I am on vacation in New York city and today I went into B & H Photo. When I got there I questioned if they had a Nikon AF-S DX 35mm lens in stock and he stated that they did so I purchased one and now I have it for the balance of our trip.
I cannot believe that they had it, I just got lucky.

what I have found is that usually BH has it listed "in stock" more often in the store than online - since I'm only 45 minutes from them and Adorama, I usually go there first if I can't find anything online. . .the only perk of being in the city!
