Hi, did a quick little rumors forum search and didn't find any suggestions. So as the title suggests, what are some of the products people are using to help protect lens hoods from getting trashed? Hoods take can take a pounding in the field, in the bag and just day in and day out use. I have tried camouflage non stick tension tape but still had sticky or ugly residue left behind. Various other tapes as well, but found they also didn't work well. I heard Hugo tape is supposed to do the trick. Lens coat makes a few pricey options as well.
I realize hoods are designed to protect the lens and thus take the beating you dish out, but I'd love to keep mine looking decent for potential resale value down the road. Replacement hoods are cheap anyways, but still I'd like to know what other forum members think about hood protection :)
