Have Nikon sold their idea to Pentax? Or do we get a new system of lenses for both Nikon and Pentax?

Reminds me a lot of the Nikon Q camera rumors

I doubt Nikon has sold anything to Pentax. Nikon Q is likely just a code name for Nikon's mirrorless camera system.

I would say no. I'm unaware of Nikon and Pentax ever doing anything together and seriously doubt they ever would.

Nikon's patents show small lenses with built-in shutters and now so does the Pentax Q. The Pentax Q specs look a lot like Nikon's rumored EVIL camera don't they? Hmmm... remember that there are some Pentax and COOLPIX models that are basically the same camera. And also that the D7000 and K-5 share the "same" Sony sensor.
Does having a metal body still make it a pro model even though the body and especially the lenses are going to be really inexpensive? Might explain the rumors we've heard that Nikon's EVIL camera might be sold as a COOLPIX but have "pro" features.

Hmm good points, still doesn't seem likely. Why would Nikon, who has never worked with Pentax before start now?
As for Pentax and Coolpix cameras that were similar, that's not uncommon with point and shoots. If you look at a wide range of cheap ($150 or less) P&S cameras from different makers you'll find they all came out of the same factory, just with a different colour and firmware. Saying that the K-5 and D7000 are basically the same because they have the same sensor is a bit of a stretch. If that's the case, say that the NEX 5 is the same as the D7000, same sensor after all! Why not say the D80 and Alpha A700 are the same camera because they used the same 10MP CCD Sony sensor?

I don't see why they couldn't work together.
The Alpha 900 and D3x probably use similar sensors, so Nikon very well could be working with Pentax.
Besides, Nikon had said in the past it would be a smaller form factor anyway- a smaller sensor would do that.
I would most certainly not be interested in a very small sensor mirrorless camera though.

It just doesn't make sense to me. Why would Nikon work with Pentax? Pentax really doesn't have anything to offer Nikon. Unless they plan on sharing mounts, which is unlikely, I'm not sure what could be accomplished.
