When I do click update on LR4 it says it it's up to date and there are no current updates.
Sorry, in that case I am out of ideas.
I would uninstall Lightroom and reinstall it (of course after doing a backup of the image library - which you most likely did before the update already) or contact Adobe tech support.

Thank you so much for your help Correlli!! I did what you said uninstall my lightroom and re-installed. Now all my file from my D600 works.
One funny thing is that there are about 30 of my first shot imported my nikon transfer still would not open with the LR4.3
hmm, I wonder what could happen there? I don't really care for those 30 files because they were tester shots around my house.
