Motivated by "Photogs Run For Cover!" thread, I created this one to document hazardous personal experiences of forum members while practicing photography. Stalwarts like Mike Gunther, and that guy (sorry I forget your name) who dared a mugger to rob him off his Nikon come to mind. Likewise, I am sure many of you have small or big mishaps to report in line of duty. I will start off with one of recent one of mine:
I was shooting a university softball game, and was allowed to be at certain location inside the field. I was shooting from just outside the dugout near the 2nd base, and coach had warned me that sooner or later I was bound to be hit that day. Sure enough it was sooner rather than later. Our champ whacked one right at me, I had the camera aimed and saw the ball coming and knew it was inevitable so took the shot anyways. Luckily, I ducked soon enough to preserve my 80-200 2.8, and my own head. But the not very soft softball hit me with a resounding smack on my right shoulder. And then there was a bunch of "I told you so's". Ironically the bruise I got was lemon-green just the color of the very hard softball.
