I was looking for an Nikon FM2n (with a flash synchronization of 1/250), but it seems so hard to find even in second shops nowadays.

Finally, a chain of photo shop cum studio in Manila changed their studio cameras to a DSLR. (I heard they are getting a Canon hehehe). I just saw rows of Nikon FM3As with a Sigma 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 HF Macro being sold. They are selling it for AUD 175.00, I got one and am using it as a fall back camera to my Nikon D40. Now, I'm searching for AF-D lenses for this body here in second hand shops in Brisbane.

Film (and mechanical manual) cameras are simple to operate. It just takes four steps: focus, set aperture, set shutter speed, and press the shutter! And no one can beat the view of their viewfinders - its big and bright!

The FM2n is a very popular camera. It had the longest production run of any Nikon camera so there are thousands and thousands of copies out there. If you didn't find one locally it's only because everyone wants one.

It was one of the last "real" Nikon cameras. It's completely mechanical and you only need batteries to run the light meter. The FM3A is nice too but it's just a fancy limited edition version of the FM2/FE2 in my opinion :^)

My FM2 is actually sitting next to me in a ThinkTank

    Welcome to the forum.

So did you have a question, looking for tips or suggestions or just sharing?

Niko - Ha! Sitting on my desk, I have my FE2 loaded with guess what, Kodak Tri-X b&w film as well.

I have been trying to find a good FM2n for under $150 for about two years. Either I miss them or I get one with a crap shutter. I have 2 FE2 (silver and black) and love them both.

I edited the thread title to make it sound less like a buy/sell post which is not allowed in this forum. I'm going to give Johnlee the benefit of the doubt.

Stop trying to copy me Jared ;^P

I actually bought a second FM2n for under $100! I couldn't resist. They are both all black. My original FM2 is brassing nicely but my second FM2n is almost spotless.

I usually have Ilford loaded but I got some expired tri-x from a shop freezer for $1 a roll. Couldn't pass that up. I haven't shot that in a really long time. Both of my FE2-s came from a guy who's uncle died 15 years ago and had just purchased both new before he passed. Maybe had a roll ran through each and that was it. $225 for the two of them!

    $100 for a FM2n?! You suck. :)~

Yeah, I like my FM2 as well- when I bought it, the store said it would be just like the FM (which I asked about), but actually is a lot better. The improved shutter lock, the faster sync speed and faster shutter speeds in general make it feel like a modern camera. I also like the shutter sound a lot better as well. Right now, it sitting in my studio with a roll of FP4+ in it- I'm using it for a project I'm partway through.
