    Hi
I used to be able to transfer files onto my Computer from Nikon Transfer 2 but now I can't do it any more because whenever I want to transfer something I get this error message "No FIles were transferred, there were no files to transfer because the preference of 'transfer new files only' was set" . Even though there are files that are needed to be transferred to my computer on the program.

Did I do something wrong before hand? Sorry I am still quite new to Nikon Cameras I have had mine for around a month or so and was able to transfer pictures & videos to my computer via Nikon Transfer 2, until now. any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

There's a setting in Nikon Transfer (2) , that says "Only transfer new files"on the options page, if this is checked, and there are no new files on the camera, then there is nothing to transfer, so maybe you could chck that setting ?

BTW. This is the DSLR part of the forum, maybe shift this to the Coolpix / P&S FOrum ?

    Hi
I checked the setting, I unmarked it but it is still causing problems. It appears to do something but then after a few minutes the program automatically closes. The video apparently DID upload to my computer, but I am still being bombarded with these really strange error messages on Nikon Transfer 2...

Have you tried uninstalling and then reinstalling Nikon Transfer? Are you using Nikon View NX2 or another program to view and organize your files?

SO some result now, something gets transferred.... progress..

That leaves some other questions ( do not let me freighten you, its all mend well...) .:

    - Could you give examples (text) of (some of) these strange messages ?
    - Is there enough space on your hardrive ? Video's can be quite large ...
    - Does it help if you change the destination directories for the file transfers ? , maybe there are already files with the same name .....
    - ViewNx 2 / Transfer 2 need the latest release of apple quicktime to be available, do you have that available on your computer ?

-At the moment i'm not getting any error messages, because the program automatically closes & doesn't transfer the video onto my computer. If I choose "create backups" I get this error message "Cannot Create Backups. No backup files are listed in the cases below,
-Backup Destination folder is the same as Primary Destination Folder
-Backup Destination folder is the subfolder of Primary Destination Folder
-Primary Destination folder is a subfolder of Backup Destination Folder
Do You want to Continue anyway?"
If I click yes or no nothing happens.

-There should be, the video files are approx 1GB and my hard drive is 698GB free.
-No, the program transfers the video for a little bit, doesn't do anything and then closes.
    -Yes.

So you are trying to create a backup folder in the same file (My Pictures for example) as the primary folder?

Have you uninstalled and reinstalled transfer? What program are you using to organize your images?

Aren't you supposed to use the software that came with the camera?

View and Transfer are two separate programs. You can use them both together or separately. Or not at all.

Mine is still in the wrapper. :) Maybe that is why I have been just scratching my head about this discussion from the beginning.

This is not that hard. Just open explorer and manually transfer them. Then open in the program of your choice.

I bought my daughter the 8100. On her Mac the video had horizontal lines in it. Using View NX to import the video to her Mac solved it.

Ok, , Backup and destination folder cannot have the same path, because they would "Overwrtie eachother..
Th second tab on the Transfer screen shows a box with the destination folder ( directory) in it,the third tab shows where a backup goes ( if you want one...

Now there is 2 thing you can do : Make the "Backup Folder different from the primary destination, or switch off the creation of a backup at importtime...
First possibility, either choose a different destination on either the second tab ( primary destination) or on the third tab ( backup destination)
Second possibility : Clear the thick box in the left hand upper corner of the third tab, preventing transfer from creating a backup inmediatly during transfer ... ( you can always creta an extra copy of the file when starting to "edit "it with viewnx 2 , or another program....)

(P.S> do you have a 750GB drive or a 1TB drive, the latter is known to produce adress problems in some computer configurations....).
    (p.S. 2 : What version of VIEWNX 2 / Transfer 2 do you use , the most recent one is : 2.1.2 i think...).
