Nikon was rumored to have been going there with "something new" in September. I think it's safe to say the change is a result of the production delays caused by the earthquake in Japan. There's no point in going to a major trade show if you don't have new products to show off.

But at least, the products that were in the cane just before the earthquake in Japan may be enhanced and improved till they are released :)

please read the following, for your information:
Thai operations Nikon has shifted much of its manufacturing facilities to Thailand, with some production (especially of Coolpix cameras and some low-end lenses) in China and Indonesia. The company constructed a factory in Ayuthaya north of Bangkok in Thailand in 1991. By the year 2000, it had 2,000 employees. Steady growth over the next few years and an increase of floor space from the original 19,400 square meters (208,827 square feet) to 46,200 square meters (497,300 square feet) enabled the factory to produce a wider range of Nikon products. By 2004, it had more than 8,000 workers.
The range of the products produced at Nikon Thailand include plastic molding, optical parts, painting, printing, metal processing, plating, spherical lens process, aspherical lens process, prism process, electrical and electronic mounting process, silent wave motor and autofocus unit production.
As of 2009, all of Nikon's Nikon DX format DSLR cameras are produced in Thailand, while their Nikon FX format (full frame) cameras (D700, D3, D3S and D3X) are built in Japan. The Thai facility also produces most of Nikon's digital "DX" zoom lenses, as well as numerous other lenses in the Nikkor line.
I think we can safely say that the production and development of FX cameras will be delayed, and you DX shooters should not be dimayed or fall for dealer price increase on lens and bodies.

One positive side of the delays is that it makes me feel soooo much better about not wanting to wait for the D700 replacement in november 2009 and going for a D700 on May 2010 despite the many saying I was nut. My love for the camera and the good glasses increases every days that passes by :D

I don't need the internet's approval to feel good about what camera I do or don't buy. Even if the D4/D900 came out tomorrow I would still be happy with buying a D3/D700 today. They will still be great cameras ten years from now.

If you need a camera, get it now. Don't wait for the expected ones based on rumors... also, be sure, the minute you get a camera, a newer/better camera will be out. (Murphy's laws).
Have a nice day.

Look on the bright side, guys! While at CES, if you happen to get lost, you could wind up at the Adult Entertainment Expo.

More months to save for a D800?
My best,
