I am looking for the D5100 USB productID/PID. To retrieve it just follow the procedure below.
Cheers.
Under MacOS X:
1) Turn the camera on and set the communication protocol to MTP/PTP.
2) Connect the camera to the Mac.
3) In the Apple menu select 'About this Mac' and click on the 'More Info...' button.
4) In the System Profiler window select USB.
5) You should now see the Nikon device information.
Nikon has vendorID equal to 0x04b0, and you should have the Nikon productID in the 0x04xx format. This is the unique identifier I need.
Under WinXP:
1) Turn the camera on and set the communication protocol to MTP/PTP.
2) Connect the camera to the PC and allow it to recognize the new device.
3) Cancel out of the Found New Hardware Wizard if it starts.
4) Open the Device Manager from the Control Panel and find your device on the list, usually under 'Other Devices'. It may show a yellow exclamation mark indicating it is an unknown device.
Double-click the device to open the properties. Select the Details tab and ensure that 'Device Instance Id' shows in the attribute dropdown box.
A string of characters will be displayed (looking like this USB\VID_04A9&PID_3145&REV_0002). The four characters to the right of 'VID_' and 'PID_' are the vendor ID and product ID, respectively.
Nikon has vendorID equal to 0x04b0, and you should have the Nikon productID in the 0x04xx format. This is the unique identifier I need.
