I bought this used F back around 1976, to replace my previous F that I had hosed. It had the winder and self-timer lever from the F2, unlike a typical F:

I don't remember where I bought this, perhaps Olden Camera in Manhattan. Anyway I've always been curious why it had these levers. Anyone know? Thanks.

I haven't seen one, but it's for people who want to shoot for a long time without being restricted by 24 or 36 frames. I guess you could connect a motor drive on it too.

Unless you were joking, the second picture was merely a reference. The top picture is what I was referring to.

Your levers are indicative of Nikon F bodies produced from mid-1972 onwards (serial number 735xxxx and above).

Are you referring to the change in addition of the plastic coating of the rapid winding crank and self-timer? Perhaps Ade has the skinny on that. I do recall a racket when they were wound.
I bought/carried several cameras before/after those dates, but don't recall. Some were Nikkormats.
After 40 years, I wouldn't be surprised if some cameras were cannibalized to repair others, too.

These models with some of the F2 refinments were called The "APOLLO" Just the F range update coming to an end before the F2 took over production totally. Ran 1972-1974.

Thanks for the info. Yes, my body's serial is 7359508, so that coincides with Ade Barkah and Rusty's information. The APOLLO, eh? :-)
Someone once told the first two digits in the serial number pertained to the year the camera was made. Does anyone know if that's correct? If so this would be a 1973 body, and my 7856364 F2 would be a 1978 model.
