if a D300s is released, and main difference is video which i don't care about, how much do you think the D300 would be discounted? what is the pricing trend once new versions are released? thanks

That will depend on what the pricing will be on the new D300s. As you properly have noticed the d300 have done a great job at holding on to its retail price. Also there is not a lot of stock left to create much of a price reduction. Actually I hope that my D300 will hold onto its value, lets not hope that Nikon gets to be like Canon with its falling prices and rapid model replacement

I hope the real improvement on the D300s will be image quality. There's been a lot of improvement from the D300 to the D90 to the D5000 in IQ, especially for high ISO out of that sensor, and I expect the D300s to benefit.

I expect that my D300 will be as valuable to me after a D300s comes out as it was before any D300s hits the market.
