why why why does nobody comment on the fact that the s95 canon has abysmal battery life? (Confirmed by a friend who is a Canon guy and just had to have one of these) Its got the same kind of CCD sensor that meant I couldn't use my old d200 without the battery pack! and one of the reasons I went to the d300. What is the point of one these things if it always flat or on the charger. The smaller sensor has not hampered the P300 as everyone thought it would and in fact might be the best thing about this camera, esp as its got a few extra pixels as well.
For me none of these compact P&S camera had sharp enough pictures to be upset whether they were RAW files (I shoot only RAW on my DSLR) or not and the 1080 HD is so far ahead of Canon as is the f1.8, CMOS sensor, fps, and in NZ $545 vs $750. The other offerings from Pan and Oly were very good but much bigger.
The RAW file is the only card up the s95s sleeve (just means you will choke up an SD quicker) and not worth the sacrifice over functionality. I can just imagine seeing that perfect shot, grabbing my camera just to find the card is full or the battery is flat. These are camera of convenience so they should be at least that.
