Rumor has it the canon 3D is gonna spoil Nikon's D300S party. Canon will supposedly also announce the T1/2000D with video to compete against Nikon's video-less D3000. So looks like canon is looking to score big after Nikon's recent beatings.

I think a canon 5DmkII body with an APS-H sensor (the 3D) at a D300 price would sell very well. If the rumor is true then it makes sense as to why Nikon's "only" upgrading the D300 to an "S". The D400 isn't ready until March 2010 and they don't want to hear all the crying about why they don't have an answer to a "canon 3D" with video.

Imagine the confusion at the camera store when you call and ask about the D3000,D300,D300s, D3,and 3D!

Ok I get it! Creativity in thread names is frowned upon in here :( I only picked a Scooby-Doo catch phrase because it's the theme Nikon chose for the D300S unveiling party!

Anyway, the lastest is that canon will definitely introduce a D300S "killer" in the form of a 7D, 60D (whatever they call it) at around the $1999 price mark. The bigger news is that it will supposedly have a larger APS-H sensor.

* Canon is not happy with the sales of the Canon 50D
* Canon 60D will ship with a new 12.1 MP APS-H sensor with a size between full frame and APS-C sensor (1.3x crop
factor)
* Canon 60D will have the 1D’s autofocus system
* Build quality similar to the Canon 5D Mark II
* 6fps
* Prics: $1999

What Gentoo said. NSXType-R you don't think that whatever canon throws at the D300s wont influence the D400 or future Nikon models?
