    Hi all,

Terrific shots. For the B&W (Elvis, Albert, Smarterchild, et. al.) are you guys doing it in post or in camera?

For the close ups, Adamz and tcole and others, what are your shutter/f-stop settings? (Of course, I'm interested in that for all to include lens at the zoom, ISO, camera, too, but that might just be me.)

And to smarterchild, the people who hired you got a gift.

    Again, just great work!

    My best,

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

    Thanks for the kind words.

I'm doing my B&W in post, in LR3. I know you have lots of experience with photoshop - I doubt LR3 lets you do anything different - I've taken to using because it seems more suited to the task generally (better workflow, global editing of multiple images, etc.).

    The cabin shot was taken with a D300s and a Tokina 11-16mm @ 11mm DX, ISO 200, f/11, 1/400 sec; the Chickadee with a D700 and a 70-200mm vr2 @ 200mm, ISO200, f/2.8, 1/1600 sec.

Thanks so much for the info!

There are so many ways to skin a cat.

I'm also liking PaintShopPro's B&W converter (cheap at the price) and Nik's Silver and Color Efex. I'm also fond of Magic Bullet's Photolooks - it's a terrific way to work an image. Of course, I'm a software junkie coming from a background of teaching the stuff from college. Working PS's channel mixer works well, too, but there are so many tools that make the work easier. Mostly finding the tones within a color range that matches a spectrum within the color filtration (if you so choose).

Having the right image to begin with as you do makes it child's play.

    My best,

    Mike
