Nikon D7000 w/ Nikon Nikkor AI-s Lenses

I am considering purchasing a Nikon D7000, mainly to shoot video on and using 3 lenses that I have and use with my Nikon FM3A.

These are :

Nikon Nikkor 28mm 2.8 (All Ai or Ai-s, I believe, bought new in 2004)

Nikon Nikkor 50mm 1.4

Nikon Nikkor 105mm 3.5

I went into my local camera store and used the camera with these lenses, the assistants knew less about the camera that I did, it says all these lenses are compatible but the live view wasn't working properly. As I want to film a lot, this is essential. So does anyone know if there is an issue with lenses. I tried changing ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed but the liveview screen stayed at its default, didn't darken or light as expected. Yet when I took a still image, the result would be have the exposure that was set on the camera

Any Ideas? or help

You would need to make sure the camera was set in manual mode in the menu settings for the video to change the shutter speed + iso.

The only way to change the aperture would be to move the aperture ring (you know this already anyway) but this should help.

Yeh this still didn't work...was in manual mode. Could change all the settings but made no difference to the LiveView image

Just tried a short vid with my D7000 and my 50mm 1.4 AIS lens. worked fine no issues first go... was set at aperture priority. dont know if its significant but my lens is set as one of the non cpu lenses recognized by the camera. also I needed to have the memory card in before it would record but LV worked without the memory card..

[Edit: See post below on manual video settings]. Ideally, you would be shooting in manual mode, setting your shutter speed manually to 1/50th, to emulate a film camera's 180-degree shutter angle (1/48th). Refer to the following thread in the V-DSLR forum for more information on this topic:

MENU> SHOOTING MENU> Movie Settings> Manual movie setings ON

Just tried this with my 50mm f/1.8D. While in manual mode, changing the aperture ring made immediate differences to the brightness displayed on the LV screen.

Yes, make sure you've changed this essential menu item first. After this setting has been changed, you should be able to change ISO, shutter speed, and aperture (via the mechanical aperture ring on the lens) while in LiveView, and even during recording in D-Movie mode.

As a side note, I bet the 28mm Ais on the D7000 must be amazing. I used to have this wonderful lens and was always impressed with its useage.
