I heard something about Nikon moving production out of Japan. Any guess on what that will do to their schedule, pricing, availability?

On Nikon Rumors front page they talk about Nikon moving some production to Thailand. Some people seem worried that quality could suffer. I don't see that happening, I think the quality will be the same...thoughts?
I frankly dont care where a product is made. All that means is where the final product was assembled. Also, if it drives down the long term costs of things, im all for that.
On one other side note, i do hope that things get better in japan. I am honestly moved when i see the widespread destruction. I only hope that Nikon doesn't lay off the Japanese workers, with this move.
The post on the main page only talks about where the actually F mount bayonets are made. Nothing has been said about moving lens or camera production yet.
I thought Notion Vtec in Malaysia was going to get some work in Malaysia for producing some lenses and bodies very soon. Reports posted recently say that Nikon factories in Sendai may open at the end of the month and others as soon as March 22nd. I find this hard to believe as one employee has actually been confirmed to have died while several others are still missing. This disaster will have a long term effect on Nikon production for quite some time and understandably so. Prices may go up as well for consumers. Quality is always high no matter where Nikon gear is made due to strick inspection standards.
