RobertD: In my humble opinion, this is an excellent bird flight shot. It's heard to get proper exposure when birds are backlit and metering can be tricky with back lit birds. Personally, the gull makes a nice touch. Many birders like to see an extra subject in bird shots (I never said we were normal lol). This is a great wild bird shot for sure!

Hey guys, i'm gonna come out and be honest and say Connors been writing these for me, but I'm gonna do it now. I'm new to this, and would perfer to not sound dumb, haha. I was shooting my siblings down at our pool, and i'm gonna put a few up pictures even though it says one a day haha, I hope thats alright, some input would be fantastic! I need some advice outside of Connors, no offince Connor, you know I love you. :)
Anyways, thanks guys for making me feel welcome, I'm diggin' this!

I couldn't resist, it may or may not be to great, but it's priceless, he was jumpin around. :)Posted 3 years ago # -

Let's try to keep it Photo-a-day :)

aplhanikonrex - nice picture, great bokeh, would love to see different framing as there's a little bit too much space on the right but apart from that nice photo
robert - I like Your shot a lot, although this time I have to disagree with gentoo, about the gull; IMHO this picture would look better without the gull
chloe - I like picture number 1 and 4 - there's something with this that girls have a better human touch than guys, as I couldn't imagine myself taking so emotional photography like the one You took
monty - any pictures of what happened later

adamz you've inspired me to challenge you to a B&W duel to the death! Well maybe not to the death, that would hurt too much :-)
I remember a while back you posted a B&W lion, so here is my interpretation of the same subject. His name is Leon Simone.
Monty I got chased by a dog like that once! Ok so it was only a chihuahua but still he had sharp teeth!
Chloeanne, you'd better be real and not Connor going through some kind of gender crisis :) But that's cool if you are Connor, whatever, I don't judge :) I kid, I kid! But really you've got some nice portraits there. Don't be affraid to post your pics! Just remember that no matter what anyone says if YOU think your photo is priceless, then it is!!!
I like the last one especially. You captured that decisive look in her eyes, right when she's thinking "here I go!" Very cute. My only serious inquiry is whether or not you were using flash? If not, think about using it next time even outdoors to fill in the shadows a bit. Good job and looking forward to your next batch.
RobertD I understand your point in keeping the gull in the pic. He adds a bit of humor to an otherwise graceful shot.
Ah Poster! It's all good! I didn't think you noticed, just wanted to point it out to you that's all. If I'm going to get my face shot off helping you in your revolution then you could at least say my name right ;-) By the way I prefer you call me Commandante Niko. At ease, men!
Gentoo, that Mallard is not cleared for landing! Abort! Abort!

Adamz
Ok...you win - no undertaker. :)Posted 3 years ago # -
"Gentoo, that Mallard is not cleared for landing! Abort! Abort!"
It was never cleared for take off LOL. That's why it had water dripping from it. It took off, flew about 20 feet, then I saw him as he changed his mind and started to land again.

Nikonmiami, I think you cloned it's head off! :)
Posted 3 years ago # -
they're much quieter this way...
Posted 3 years ago # -
#poster - Street shots seams to really be your thing
#NikoDoby - I wonder how this will end up, I am sure it will be interesting duel if adamz dares to accept it ;>
#NikonMiami - perfect shot, love it
Somehow that BW photography really has a kind of magic:

mb, I don't want to actually duel adamz. (Please adam don't hurt me) I was just complimenting him on his B&W photos by trying my hand at a B&W lion :)
Come to think of it, adamz would win anyway. I forgot he's a moderator here. He'd just ban me :)
Posted 3 years ago # -
niko - I wouldn't (or would I :)), but as for the duel - why not, maybe admin could implement sth like that - I mean two pictures side by side, limited time to post Your vote, and some additional topic with all the winning pictures, up to this time, just choose a topic and set a timeframe;
as for Your lion, I really like it - much better contrast than on mine, I also like the fact that one part of it is in shade - really good worknikonmiami - really like the details on the feathers - can You share what lens You used for this picture?
robert - once again great shot - and now even better :D
gentoo - really nice photo - and I know it must been hard to get it, was actually playing today with bird shots and couldn't get a single shot like Yours
below my contribution for today, as it's already past midnight in my location

Taken today, with my standard set D90+70-200/2.8+TC-17Posted 3 years ago # -
NikonMiami, I've seen your pictures at your website before (http://nikonmiami.blogspot.com/) - they are great! Welcome to the NR forum (from a fellow Floridian)!

@mb
Well i don't know about that. I am just lucky enough to happen to be in the right place at the right moment. But sometimes I stalk my prey, wait and see 'till the action comes in and there I am with my camera either right "in their face" or from a hide away snapping away.
Anyway, I was kind of bored today so here it comes

Taken during one of our many snows in 2007.
Nikon D200
Nikon f/3.5-5.6 ED VR
ISO 200
1/160
f6.3AdamZ I love your squirrel shot. Our 'tree rats' are a little more grey than this one

NikonMiami: That Egyptian Goose is almost a perfect shot! Wish we could see the head but IMO everything else is perfect. It is what we look for in bird shots; a soft mostly unicolored background with the subject in sharp detail is near perfect exposure. This is a bird shot!
amdaz: Nice European Red Squirrel. Looks like the Eastern Gray Squirrel which was introduced to Europe hasn't made it to your local population yet. And yes, bird shots aren't easy but they're fun and challenging.
RobertD: wonderful shot with a very fitting caption.

Nikodoby : Thank you! And I really am Chloe, haha. Connors not that strange, maybe a little, but thats okay, right? Haha, i'm joking. Connors taught me what I know! Here to prove it, I'll post a picture of us, It might have been you who asked a few days ago.

Thats Connor and I, he might get mad at me posting this particular picture, we look like were posing for something, haha. :)Gentoo : Thank you, short and nice, very encouraging! I love ducks, he looks like he's trying to water ski!
Adamz : I really like your picture, I don't have great adivce, but I definitely like it!
So, Connor warned me about if I happen to spell something wrong, you guys will jokingly jump on me about it, so i'm just gonna say right now, I spell a little bad, alright, maybe more than a little. :)

Hey guys! I'm running desperately low on photos, I need to go shoot.
Shooting out it my yard the other day. I love the light.
Gentoo- I like your mini series on a mallard's flight and landing ten seconds later.
RobertD- I love the composure of this.
NikoDoby- And nobody else but you could think of that. I love the exposure of the monochrome lion.Posted 3 years ago # -

I'm just mess'n wit ya Connor! That's a great picture of you two, the first one I mean. That second one looks like Chloe's making a fist and is about to knock you silly Connor. She probably will when she sees you posted it :)
I really like your yard shot. Your photo captured some beautiful lighting Connor. Chloe, like I've already said, you've got an eye for color.
A hat tip to you both :)

There are some very nice pictures on this page :)))

@monty11: I agree, and I love the range of the shots—animals, landscapes, BW, portraits, action, street shots. Heck, we've got everything here!
@Connor: You're running out of shots? What? So you're using the NR photo-a-day to push yourself to shoot—don't do that. Just go and do it!
Let me see... I've had my D300 for exactly 63 days, and the shutter count on it is [OMG] 8413! That means that everyday I'm shooting approximately 134 images! Here's my shot for today:
