Let me start off by giving a little info on my current rig.
Bodies: D7k, D5k
Lenses:
50mm 1.8D Prime
AF-S 18-55 VR 3.5-5.6G zoom
AF-S 55-200 VR 4-5.6G telephoto
AF 80-200 2.8D (just purchased)
After purchasing the 80-200 2.8, i felt i totally needed to re-think my lenses. I want to buy all fast FX glass from here on out, since i'm going to upgrade to FX as soon as the "D800" comes out(going to sell the D5K). I originally was going to get the 28-300, but decided on much faster tele glass, so i opted for the 80-200 2.8 instead.
Now that we've got that out of the way, I'm having a hard time deciding on what i should do for my mid/normal range. I'm currently leaning towards all primes(AF 28mm 2.8D, AF-S 35mm 1.8G, AF 50mm 1.4D, AF 85mm 1.8D) with a Tokina 12-24 on the wide end and a fisheye of some sort. OR, pay a little more and get a AF-S NIkkor 24-70mm f/2.8G ED? I would still obviously use a few of the primes regardless, because they are cheap and very usefull.
What are your thoughts? I am personally leaning towards the primes for my mid/normal range and still keeping the 18-55VR, because it's sharp(yet slow). I don't really mind carrying around gear, as long as it's worth it to have all these lenses in my bag.
Any and all thoughts are appreciated. I searched and found a ton of info, but none regarding my particular situation.
Thanks!
BTW, we shoot just about everything(Concerts, birding, nature, landscapes, portraits, cars, street walking, events, travel, weddings..etc), just in case you were wondering what we're using these lenses for. We need the versatility to shoot just about anything, within reason of course. :)
