Mitsubishi isn't really doing well in the car department but if they all of a sudden went bust and were closed down or bought out would that affect Nikon any?
What if Mitsubishi went bust?

A failure of the Mitsubishi Group's American car division (they aren't having as many problems outside the US) would probably hurt Nikon less than you stubbing your toe.
A - Nikon is only loosely affiliated with Mitsubishi Motors and the American operating group is a subset of that.
B - The Mitsubishi Group is HUGE.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi Motors is a different company then the Mitsubishi Group. The Mitsubishi Group consist of several different companies which includes Nikon. If Mitsubishi Motors closed up shop then it wouldn't affect Nikon at all because they are a totally separate company.

trust me Mitsubishi are fine. (speaking from japan)
though their cars have not been thought highly of here for decades since a number of quality control issues a while back. you don't see many on the roads compared to many other car manufacturers over here.
while mistubishi are big, panasonic is crazy big, they make damn near everything in japan. they own majority shares in Sanyo and Toshiba. they are also National. they make EVERYTHING here, from toilet roll holders to houses (no jokes).

I'm not a fan of Mitsubishi's cars really(even though i own an ultra-bad-ass AWD 620HP Mitsubishi Evolution VIII). They only make one car well and that's the All Wheel Drive, Turbo charged Evolution. You'd be hard-pressed to find a car that will out-handle it for three times the price. Mine is a BEAST, trust me.
That being said, the Mitsubishi Group is HUGE and encompasses many ventures. One of it's subsidiaries going down will hardly hurt the rest of the company's siblings. Mitsubishi Motors isn't going anywhere though. They're new offerings aren't that bad, compared to recent past.
In-other-words, Mitsubishi Group has companies that are doing VERY well in their segments. They are HUGE for a reason.

Too bad Mitsubishi Motors is going to kill their EVO line. I guess EVOs aren't all that "bad azz" after all ;-)
But this is a photography forum and to keep the peace between EVO and Scooby drivers lets move on ;-)
