Hi, I sent an email to Nikon asking for a hint on the next new full frame/D700 replacement, almost threatening to switch to Canon gears, and I received a hint that Nikon does new releases in Spring and Fall and that at best anything new will be in two months.

I always thought that letters that were reeled off to major companies like that were merely seen as humorous bathroom reading material by the executives who received it. But in view of the barrage of literature that I'm sure Nikon got regarding the "dead/stuck/sick pixel" issue and seeing that a fix was initiated, I guess the letters and e-mails probably work sometimes. In this case, they're likely not introduce a new FX DSLR before the planned date. Not that I'm looking to go full frame anytime soon (just got the D7K in November) but I can't help but to wish the dark areas in my Low light/High ISO shots were a lot cleaner. are you using LR3No, I haven't tried any Lightroom products yet. Should I? I was given a copy of Aperture 3 for which I've only used 10% of its capability so far. I'm planning to review one of the "Which software are you using" threads soon to review people's opinions.
Is LR3 supposed to be really good at cleaning up those dark areas, sevencrossing?

Can somebody give me some advise, I want to start using a FX camera, and was thinking in buying the D700 replacement (D800) or should I buy the D700 that's already available?

I'm starting with photography as a serious hobby. If you want to Video you will have to wait, ( or buy a D3s) otherwise there is nothing wrong with the D700

You may not be able to purchase a D700 replacement before the end of 2011 as you may want to wait and see the problems it has. You may be missing a whole year of shooting FF. The D700 is mature and a well known quantity and should keep you happy for many years.
If you really want the top, then get a D3s. If you purchase decent FF lenses, then getting a D3s may just add 15% to 20% over the total cost of your whole system.
The D700 replacement price may well be in the vicinity of the D3s anyway, which will just make the D3s more attractive.
