Some of the special edition cameras look quite nice- a few Leicas, for instance.

    This, not so much.

I did like the white and black K-r though, it also came with a matching lens.

I'd love to have been a fly on the wall for the discussions that led up to this. You really have to wonder what leads people to think something like this is a good idea, even as a limited edition. Personally, I'd like to see what would happen if companies would do limited runs of things where the differences were functional, rather than just stylistic. If Leica (to quote only the most glaring example) can command thousands more just for covering something in ostrich leather or peacock feathers, why couldn't a manufacturer like Nikon or Canon put together a limited edition camera that actually has a USEFUL feature that people might gladly pay extra for? Tweak something with the video functionality, for instance, or a sensor with off-the-charts low noise/high ISO performance? If the limited sells out quickly, you've got a good idea of whether a feature has legs and can decide whether to roll it out on a wider scale in future models.

i think the rule is, dont try to sell us something or post links all the time. Also, i love digitalrev. I dont think everyone on this board feels the same way, but i think they are great. I think i posted this video right after the d7000 came out as well. I thought the camera came out well, until they added the marker bits to it.

I think someone at Pentax has gone mad. http://en.akihabaranews.com/86272/cameras/rilakkuma-pentax-k-r-yes-we-can

I think that bear might be popular in Japan, but here in the states, it looks like pedobear(look at pop-up flash).... so a camera for a pedophile then??

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedobear thats what the bear looks like.

It might just be my age group, but i think this was a terrible move by Pentax. This must have been a marketing ploy to get young woman to buy a camera. They should have went with hello kitty.

    Another reason i picked Nikon

I dont want to be mistaken for a 16 year girl or a pedophile at the park.

    Also, because nikodoby shoots Nikon.

I went nikon because I was sick of canonland...

And because all 16 year old high school girls shoot the rebel xs...

More just being sick of canon as I wasn't impressed from day 1...
