another sb-700 (i'm going to point it up at the two superclamped to the roof. so i can use the af assist and CLS).
a 67-77 step up ring so I can use my 77 polarizer on my 35 1.4.
For me, it will likely be a dedicated macro lens, probably the 200/4 unless I see a reason for something else. Other stuff that I'd like and will probably get within the next few years is:
- multicoated polarizer, either MRC or Hoya HD
- 3+ LP160s or other manual flashes
- arcaswiss cube
Hmmm, is that really it? Well I couldn't think of anything else, but normally I'd be swamped with ideas.
D700 replacement.
It's not that I hate my D300s, I love it, but I know the jump in tech and the switch to FX will fit my needs. I don't enjoy swapping lenses so a second body is in the works regardless.
Maybe a quality mid range zoom - although a second body should eliminate the need.
Maybe a f/1.4 (35mm-ish and 50mm) prime.
Maybe a third flash.
Maybe a decent portable backdrop.
Maybe a new all-in bag, and a case for my lighting stuff.
It never stops, really.
The 14-24 is the next item.
Whatever the next pro body is . . . pre-ordered as soon as it is posted.

I'm leaning towards the D700 or its replacement as my next purchase.
Good for you, PB PM! Get it! You deserve it! (Wait for the new one!)

After that, I'd like to get the 16-35mm F4VR.
I've been eyeing that lens myself! Even though I have a preference for short, fast primes, the 16-35mm has VR, which I also like. As I said before, I realized just the other day, shooting my 18-55mm VR at dusk, and noticed that its VR nearly made up for its slow aperture. So, despite all my ramblings in the other ultra/wide-angle thread, the 16-35mm f/4.0 VR is definitely in the running again.
Okay, I've made up my mind. This is it! I've agonized enough! It's the D800, the AF-S 24mm f/1.4G, and a new AF-S 50mm f/1.4G (had one before, but it was soft). Can't wait!!!
70-200 vr or
17-35 2.8 Both nikon glass
My portrait photography has been paying alot of bills lately and the 70-200 would be nice to own as compared to rent for weddings.
I want a wide angle lens for landscapes..any ideas for what I should look at.
Nevermind.. http://nikonrumors.com/forum/topic.php?id=42
Had to get this link before niko could=)

I have the 50 1.4G and it is soft up to about f/2. I think they are all like this.
If you are shooting FX i would recommend trying both the 24 and the 35 before commiting (i rented the 14-24 and shot it at 24). If you are shooting DX, wait until you have a FX before commiting the the lenses. That way you will be absoulutely sure.

Damnit! That's what my local Nikon dealer said ("they're all soft")! My AF 50mm f/1.4D was noticeably sharper than the AF-S version. I thought I just had a bad copy. Why would Nikon do this?

I have AF-D and AI-S versions of both already. I've been playing with my AF-D 24mm on my "full-frame" N90s all night, and I love it! Can't wait to use an AF-S 24mm f/1.4 on a new FX body!

With all those maybe's you sound like a shop keepers dream customer :-)
The D700 or the D3s replacement.
Perhaps the AF-S 35mm f/1.4G or the AF-S 85mm f/1.4G.
iPad is nice but I don't like Apple commercial practices. I am waiting for a good windows-base pad.

Just curious, does the 50mm AF-S have nano crystal coating?
No it doesn't NSXType-R
Hi all,
On my shopping list (or wish list) are
(1) D800 (for the lack of a better name)
(2) Nikon PC 45 F2.8)
(3) Nikon 24-70MM
(4) Quad Core upgrade
(5) Monitor Upgrade
(6) Office chair
I'll likely get the chair possibly the computer equipment, and read about the camera gear here.
My best,
Mike

So true. ;-)
This is a popular thread already, eh? What, do we have a bunch of gearheads hanging around the forum?
My list:
knock-off MB-D11 when it comes out
24-120 f/4
105 macro VR
And I would love that 45 PC-E, but I know I'm just dreaming. My NEX-5 with a bellows does passable lens movements.
"I'll likely get the chair possibly the computer equipment, and read about the camera gear here." LOL ! Nikon should ban this site! I know JonnyA does the same thing! hehe!
I have a few bits i really want but will probably not get.. but the D7000 is on my list and off my list and on again.. been waiting for the D400 for almost 2 years now what is 6 months more? and what about that D5500? but that 7000 is all I need :-) but the D400 will be all I need! but the D7000 is here now! sigh .. see still undecided.. heh!

Although I hear the PC-E lenses are amazing, I wouldn't get it unless I had at the very least a D300 or D700 body. I hear they only work optimally with D3 series bodies.
There's not enough clearance for the knobs and stuff on low end bodies.
I won't post ALL of my wishlist items, but the main ones are:
Think Tank Retrospective 20
Nikkor 70-200 VRI
Possibly MB-D11 or just a spare battery, not sure yet.
SB-700 (might end up with a used 600)
That should keep me occupied for a while. =)
I would like the 105 f2.8 Nikon Micro lens or the Sigma 17-50 f2.8. I might have to settle for a different macro lens though. I don't know if I want to spend the change on the 105. I always feel like primes have such a limited use, but at least it does macro work also. When I think about the 105 I always have a thought in the back of my head that if I am going to spend that much on the macro lens then why not get this or that lens for a little more...
My next Purchase? There's a story. For over two years I've been saving for a long zoom for wildlife shooting (photo purchases are carefully monitored by the spousal unit so said purchases must be made from a secret fund comprised of pocket change plus any folding money I can scrounge by standing on the interstate entrance ramp with a cardboard sign). I had pretty much decided on Sigma's 50-500 "Bigma", but when their 150-500 came out, the addition of OS put me on the fence. Alas, before I could make a decision, I tapped my lens fund to do some badly needed computer upgrades (Asus P6T mobo, i7 Quad, 6GB, 1GB video, 3.5TB of drive space). Meanwhile, rumors started floating around that Nikon was either going to (finally) upgrade their 80-400 or add another zoom covering the 100-500 range... plus Sigma upgraded the 50-500 with OS (and raised the price of course), so now I had more choices than ever and was kind of glad I put off the purchase in favor of a computer rebuild. But Nikon kept dragging their feet and I never could bring myself to pull the trigger on one of the Sigmas for fear that the day after I bought it Nikon would announce their new zoom and it would turn out to be what I really wanted. So I did my best to wait patiently... after a while I got to the point where I could check in on NR each morning and not be utterly disappointed at the absence of any peep from Nikon regarding the replacement of what is now the OLDEST ZOOM LENS IN THEIR LINE. In the meantime, the D7000 was announced and took me completely by surprise. Again, the lens fund took a hit. So here I sit, digging the hell out of my new camera ... but once again struggling to get the lens fund back up. And Nikon STILL has not announced an 80-400 upgrade/replacement. Every day I ask my Magic Eight Ball if Nikon is gonna come thru for me any time soon, and every day the answers are the same... "Outlook Not So Good," "Better Not Tell You Now," "Ask Again Later." Arrggghh.
