I thought it'll be cool and interesting to see what people are planning to buy or working towards as their next purchase in order to enhance their camera/photography.
Me myself, as i've just started as a beginner: my next purchase will be a tripod possibly along with some sort of bag/holster to keep my gear in.
What yours?
I have a long list of possibilities. It's just going to depend on what I happen to feel I need first. On the list are the 70-200 VRII, new CF tripod and head, the new pocketwizards ... It's always a mystery with me what will come next, until I just up and buy something.
My 85mm 1.4G should be with me tomorrow, next up I think an iPad mk2 to show my portfolio on.
Well, my current B&H wish lists are at about $7K right now, that will get pared down before purchase time, but this is the one time a year that I actually buy camera gear.
The things that are for certain are the 14-24 f/2.8 and the 70-200 f/2.8 lenses. That will give me all three of the zooms, which for me will be 90% of my usage. On top of that I am looking at picking up one or two SB-700s (might opt for 600's) and enough pocket wizards to go around. After that it is a toss up, lots of little things, none of which are critical.
Oh, and an iPad and Think Tank Retrospective 30 bag for in town use.

Love my lens. Too bad I don't have time to shoot anymore. School. :(
Nikon D800 purchase is mine. Have 3500 USD all ready for preorder. After that, im saving up for a 85 1.4G.

If one is about to buy a 1:D3S
2:D300s
3:D700
Should they wait or go ahead with the buy, as rumours are afloat that their replacements are just down the corner...

Actually just waiting for my bonus. I get it March 6th, the order will go in on the 7th. I spend a portion of it each year, so it works out well. I start with everything I can think of and then pare back a bit when it comes time to pay. Some things like the GPS can wait. Others like the lenses can't (ok they could, but the won't). Just a matter of going through the list and asking if I know I will use it in the next 12 months. If not it can wait until next year, if I know it will be used it gets purchased.

Medium budget:
iPad 2 - family bonus points...but seriously has anyone figured out why we need an iPad? :-)
Still thinking of filling the 24-80mm zoom range, so maybe 18-105 or 16-85mm (described ad nauseum in other thread)
Low budget:
I need a new 77mm lens cap, but I just splurged $7 on a Zeikos rubber hood, so I'm saving my pennies.
Yep, that's pretty much sums up my situation.
I'm leaning towards the D700 or its replacement as my next purchase. I was thinking about the D300s replacement, but I shoot in low light a lot, so having better high ISO performance is a must, even if it means losing the "extra" reach of DX. After that, I'd like to get the 16-35mm F4VR.
Top of my list is probably a 7" Android tablet and a Eye-fi card.

My next camera purchase will be a 4x5 Field Camera. I've decided to put my Nikon D700 and 14-24mm lens up for sale. I think a 4x5 will better fit what I want to do. At some point, I'll get a D90/D7000 for my 50mm f1.8 that I am keeping to take general snaps and short video's.
WoW, we have some rich people, at least in spirit, on this forum.
I would like to get before year's end:
- a good macro lens, either the Nikon 105 VR or maybe the Tamron 90mm,
- a good wide angle, either the Nikon 10-24 or the Tokina 11-16mm,
- the MBD11 grip, or third party option,
- a manfrotto all in one mono/tripod,
- a Windows 7 tablet like the ExoPC,
and to top hit all the winning lottery ticket to make it all possible ;)
I've been pretty good on buying everything on my Adorama wishlist.
Having just picked up the MB-D11 and extra battery all that is left to buy is a macro lens and a decent tripod.
Still deciding between the Tokina 100mm or Nikon 105mm.
Also considering trading my 80-200mm for the 70-200mm. I love the lens but for some reason I am craving a VR lens again. I might change my mind and be content.
I also want to pick up the 35mm f/1.8. I sold it awhile back but I miss it so.
The next big thing is to get into strobist stuff, so maybe light boxes, reflectors, another SB600 etc.
I'm quite happy with my gear right now.
