I have heard from a Ritz manager that the D7000 is suppose to have a sensor that can be replaced with a new more advanced one at a later date. In other words, instead of having to buy a whole new camera only one part is put in to update the internal system.
Does anyone know about the replaceable sensor?

In all of the months that the D7000 has been out, I've never heard anything like this. Realistically speaking, a replaceable sensor is difficult due to the amount of data that has to be pulled off of it. Adding user or even technician replaceable components would require a large number of high frequency connectors, which would be quite expensive and would reduce the performance.

In my opinion, there is no chance in hell that Nikon intends that the D7000's sensor should be replaced when technology improves. If that were the case, it would probably be written all over the box...and advertisements...and someone would already have a tattoo to that effect. No. When the D8000 rumors start, all of us D7000 owners start saving and 1 year thereafter the D7000 becomes backup.

Ritz as a general area of knowledge is the last place to go. Sorry to all ritz workers but if you still work there you should change jobs.
