You're all welcome. Glad I could help. As yet I haven't needed the fast frame rate but this Spring when my kids start soccer I'm sure it'll come in handy.

Aside from all of that, I don't think the system was designed to pull power from both battery sets at the same time anyway since the menu calls for you to decide which battery set you want to use first before moving on to the 2nd battery set. After seeing the above results I've decided I will eventually get a 2nd En-EL15 for the battery pack.As far as I know all grips ask for the order, but it doesn't stop the MB-D10 from increasing the frame rate with 8 AA batteries.
As a side note; the frame rate in 14bit RAW increases from 5fps to 8 fps with the grip on a D700, but the D300s can only shoot 14bit RAW at 3fps even with a grip. This leads me to think they have different processing power.

As another side note, please use NiMH and help the environment.Posted 2 years ago # -

Fuck the environment, help yourself.
Despite a resting voltage of 1.5v for alkaline and 1.2ish for NiMh, under load Alkalines waste most that voltage on their internal resistance.
One will definitely get better flash recycle times, and possibly get better framerates, when using NiMh, alkalines suck under load. Keep them in your TV remote but out of your camera.

Please, don't give Nikon ideas!

Just got the MB-D11 and an extra battery, ugh at the price but I think it does add some FPS.
How do I determine if it shoots any faster?
I mean it sounds like it to me, but should I set it to jpg and hold down the shutter in CH with and without the battery grip or keep it at NEF and do the same.

kgs, the easiest way would be to fire off a burst of jpgs and look at the metadata to see how many are taken each second. If you've got a microphone and you're good with a DAW you could get more accurate by looking at the frequency of the shutter clicks on that, but that's probably overkill. (Just the scientist in me talking.)

Held it down until it filled the buffer then looked at image review and counted the number of pictures before it changed each second and with the grip it still just 7.
Oh well. Still glad I have it. This will come in handy for a month long trip I'm taking.
Oh well.

Well I finally got around to getting one of these. Picked it up cheap from ebay and shipped from Malaysia, there was no way I was paying £350 for a UK one when one from there was £130. Also got a new battery.
Wow. What a difference it makes! Suddenly the camera is so much nicer to hold, have so much more control. Can't believe I didn't get one of these sooner.
Absolutely no way it is worth the full uk price, however.

Still waiting on the Zeikos clone. Rumor has it that it will be out in late April (revised from late March, according to a discussion on amazon).

As far I know (reading here in the forum and from the D7000 spec), the frame rate will not increase with the use of the battery grip..
Can you verify this and post the results in this thread?

So, anyone take a look at the new ebay grip on the front page?
someone want to try it out? Looks pretty sketchy to me.

I'm not going to bother. None of the knock-offs appear to have metal casing, and one of the ones I saw couldn't use the Nikon charger with the supplied batteries (I'm assuming they were not the same shape as the D7000's).
The price of the Nikon is down a little from when it came out, so I'll just stick with that.

Once you hold a camera with a grip in your hands, its hard to go back.

I just ordered the Chinese knockoff of the MB-D11 on eBay. For $49, I couldn't resist... especially since I already had a second battery. I wish I knew someone locally with a Nikon MB-D11 to compare it to. I'm guessing the main difference is that the Nikon one has a magnesium frame and the knockoff most likely does not (probably used plastic or aluminum).

So think of it as a "crumple zone" lol.
