Hello, i am new to this site and thought i would stop by here to hear some of your knowledge and experiences in better making my decision to buying the right camera gears.

To start of, I am a photo enthusiastic and my budget is $4000. The two cameras that i am gearing toward is d7000 and d700. I do not like used equipment, i prefer brand new in camera and lenses. The lens that i like are 85mm 1.4g and 18-200mm vr2, both from nikon.

To me the most important thing is not the camera. It's the image that is important. I like image with VERY SHARP image, excellent bokeh, the best bokeh ever, the CREAMIEST and SILKIEST bokeh. period. i like to shoot in dim light, dont care about sports. i have a d3000 and never have i ever go beyond 1fps. I only used burst mode once. beside shooting in low light i also like to shoot flowers, people, macro and scenery. It is nice for me to have two lenses along with my brand new camera. having only 85mm 1.4g alone is nice but having an additional lens (18-200) is better. I go camping every summer, the 18-200 is versatile for travel.

I can only afford one or the other, the d700 with both lenses or d700 with only one lens? what do you think is the best decision for me? which camera do you think that fit my needs? or should i just wait for the replacement of d700 instead? i don't mind spending 3500 on a camera (if the new d700 cost that much)then i would not be able to afford any lenses at all! i would have to wait 6 months to buy lenses for my d700s,x or 800 whatever its called. You are welcome to recommend other lens that fit my budget and needs. But remember i like lens that will give me SILKY bokeh and SUPER SHARP image, i don't mind spending $1700 on one lens.

The two lenses I listed are based on what i read online from reviewers, and photographers. I have never touched or used any of the two lenses. i would like to purchase in the spring time. If you think other lenses are better and more suitable please let me know. Thank you

    1) To me the most important thing is not the camera. It's the image that is important.
Go with the D700. You will find that both the camera and image are important.

    2) I like image with VERY SHARP image
Go with the D700 + a prime lens or a pro zoom lens. The 18-200mm is not sharp.

    3) excellent bokeh, the best bokeh ever, the CREAMIEST and SILKIEST bokeh. period.
Go with the D700 + a prime lens or a pro zoom lens. The 18-200mm is not creamy or silky. Period.

    4) i like to shoot in dim light, dont care about sports.
Go with the D700. You gain a 2 stop advantage. If you care about low light photography, don't buy DX, and don't get a consumer zoom. Get a PRO zoom or a (good) prime.

    5) i also like to shoot flowers, people, macro and scenery
Go with the D700. If you like shooting wide angle (scenery), you are at a disadvantage on DX because of the crop factor.

    6) It is nice for me to have two lenses along with my brand new camera. having only 85mm 1.4g alone is nice but having an additional lens (18-200) is better. I go camping every summer, the 18-200 is versatile for travel.
Get a Point and Shoot before getting a consumer lens. You will not get the quality you want

Seriously consider getting used. D700's used are in excellent condition and a great buy. You should pay about $1800 on the body used. As for a lens, you may be limited with the 85mm. Consider getting the 35mm f/2D Prime and an 85 1.4D used. Should run you about 1K used. You are now at $2800. Get the MB-D10 grip and an extra battery @ $250. You still have 1K to play with.
And get some more money, you are going to need it. If you can come up with a few more bucks, you can probably get a 24-70mm f/2.8G lens for @ $1400. That will be a good start.

From what your saying about what you want to shoot and such, I don't see the need for the D700 at all. Get the D7000 and add some lenses to the kid. Get the kit at 1,500 and you get an all around lens with the 18-105. That can be a good run around vacation lens when you only want to have one on you. After that add another battery and a hand full of memory cards. Say all that is 1,600, that leaves you with 2,400 to play with in lenses. With that money I would add primes to my set, but thats just me. You can get a 20mm 2.8 for around 550, a 105mm macro 2.8 VR for around 900, and a 50mm 1.4 for about 450. That puts you at 3,500ish and 500 to play with. But then thats just me and what I would do if I were you.

Niz, did you even read the OP? Requirements are low light shooting, sharpness, and creamy bokeh. D700 > D7000 in low light, and the 18-105mm lens you are suggesting is certainly not sharp and does not have any notable bokeh. You obviously have not shot FX.

OP, you really need to shoot both for yourself, but if you are seriously considering the 85mm f/1.4G, don't ruin that lens with a D7000.

FYI, I have owned D60, D90, D700, D300S, and the D7000, in that order. I never got rid of my D700, thought I would get a good DX to have a second body, what a waste. FX or nothing for me. So I have used both bodies you are considering, and any Nikon lens you would even consider buying I have personally owned and shot with.

    Current Lenses I Own:
    f/1.4G: 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm
    f/2.8G: 14-24mm, 24-70mm, 70-200mm VRII, 60mm Micro

Previously Owned Lenses Put To Pasture:
    f/1.4D: 50mm
    f/1.8: 35mm (G DX), 50mm (D), 85mm (D)
    f/2D: 35mm
    f/2.8D: 20mm, 24mm, 28mm, 60mm Micro, 80-200mm
    f/2.8G: 17-55mm (DX), 70-200mm VRI, 105mm Micro
    f/4G: 24-120mm
    Other: 18-55mm VR, 18-105mm, 18-200mm (VRi and VRII), 55-200mm VR, 70-300mm (G), 70-300mm VR, 80-400mm VR, 18-35mm, 24-120mm, 28-200mm, 28-300mm VR
