I have seen many asking about a back-up cameras and I am wondering how many have had a recent, full failure where they had to use a back-up?
I'm just wondering if a second body is more of a "peace of mind" or if someone actually shooting a family portrait or like has had a total failure. I certainly understand wanting a second body for a different lens or utilizing one when in extreme conditions - there are obvious needs of course.
I have seen even lower consumer level cameras take a hell of a beating and still work. That being said, I have seen the D90,80,70 have AF failures and a few electronic failures in lower level cameras. My D300 had taken a beating and I'm not even the slightest concerned that it will not work. A friend's D200 is held together with duct-tape and still works great.
I'm just curious how many people here have actually had a camera fail.
Please list your body model and keep to recent or current bodies (last 4-5 years). How about fairly normal use also. (If you strapped a camera to a goal post or an airplane wing I think everyone can expect something to happen ;) )
Thanks for the info!
