   Just bought it list.......

   Okidata pro 905DP ..... 4/C digital press, NOT photo equipment using for reproductions, envelopes, 27pt card stock along with magnets. It runs really thick stock.

   Epson 4900 ................ I got 1,000 back in rebates

   Nikon D7oo ................ this way the new DXXX will be out sooner, LOL!

   14-24 mm

   24-70mm

   70-200mm

   RRS tripod .................. hoping I am getting what I pay for on this one, $$$$ !!!!!

   iMAC 27" 2.93, ............ going to upgrade to 16GB 750 bucks cheaper when I do it !!!!!

   CS5

   LR3

   NIK software................ Silver EFX

   Just want some honest opinions, not judgement, like being first and all.

   Okay, nice list of very capable equipment. Call me a silly bastard, but to me, there are only two issues here:
   1. Did you buy the right equipment for you, and for the work you're doing?
   2. If the answer to #1 is yes, what does it matter what anyone else thinks of your kit?

   Actually, I'll throw in a caveat: it's a good list of stuff if you have the working knowledge to get the most out of it. I'm not saying this to knock your skills; I bring it up because all of us on this forum have either seen someone buy something high-end 'cause it's "what the pros use" or have even, from time to time, been that person. I'd hope that if you've got that kind of cash to be laying out on the kind of high-end stuff you've got, you've also got the chops to get the most out of it. If that's the case, good on you. If it's not, then the one thing missing from your list would be classes to get up to speed on all of it.

   Oh, yes. If you are kinda jumping into photography, which it sounds like you are, by all means take some classes or workshops. Even some of the online classes are quite worthwhile. Knowing how to use your equipment can mean a lot better photos than just having good equipment.

   Sat for years behind my Grandfather . When shooting and developing in his darkroom. I have his glass negatives too !!! To answer your question yes I have the chops . Just have not shot in years. And truly don't care , was just looking to fill in some holes I might have missed on, Thanx.

   Get a 50 1.4G and an 85 1.4G and a Lensbaby Composer.

   Get a D7000 backup body too.

   Also, you need some studio strobes and softboxes. Go for the Westcott 3 light kit that currently comes with free softboxes...well, unless you are a pro often using the lights on location, then get a more study setup....oh, if your studio is big, then you want more powerful lights than what I mentioned but if it your studio is small then maybe you purposely want to go light (no pun intended) on the output...like the Westcott kit referenced...or, if it is REALLY small, use slaved flashes.

   So, are you a portrait photographer...a sports photographer...a bird photographer...landscape?

   You will also need an assistant. I will offer my services for $1000 per 8 hour day (and advise you that it is a good deal!!)....plus travel from New Jersey. I will need a similar setup as yours.

    Starting with landscapes, I am sitting on an island in between the Adirondacks of NY and the Green Mountains of Vermont, then there is plenty of wildlife and people to shoot also......I know I will have to add some lenses to compliment what I have but it is a starting point. I am also close to a teacher with plenty of Nikon equipment to borrow till then. I like to shoot with natural lighting. I know DX has the reach but again just starting with the basics.

    Have fun with it, Vermonster.
    Used to spend hours in the darkroom, myself. Thought it was miraculous when DIY Cibachrome was introduced by Ilford. Time have changed, huh?

    In more ways than I care to say , but with digital the kids can just shoot away. Coming back with incredible shots !

    I have the glass negs. framed with soft back lighting, always get comments on them .

    Looks like an awesome start!

    I've found having a faster prime for low-light to be very useful, as was already suggested - something f/1.4 or f/1.8.

    Remember to post a pic every 24h in the photo a day thread, it's a good way to help get you out shooting often.
