I am a happy D7k owner using the mbd11 battery grip. In a nutshell it vastly improves ergonomics and all that, but... About the fps, I'm not sure that it does NOT increase it- reason being is when I used the supplied tray for the 6 double aa batteries that were fully charged ( plus the EN-EL15 in the camera itself) the shutter speed was definitely faster than without the grip. Can anyone else test theirs and see if they notice the difference? It doesn't really matter to me what the results are and I'm not trying to excite anyone nor justify my purchase. It's just so obvious that I don't know why nikon would not capitalize on that? Perhaps to not hurt d300s sales? Just a thought.
MBD11 owners please come in

I think you're right, speeddemon. I can't remember if it was here on the forum or on the main blog, but someone else was also claiming 8fps (or was it 7fps?). Anyway, pretty cool and you might be right on the reason, as well. You can always set it to shoot some form of jpeg, fire a burst of 40 or so, and see how many are taken each second from the exif data.

Thanks jonny, I wasn't going to get all technical but I didnt realize that the hard evidence would be in the exif data. Will try at some point and report back.

Sorry, speeddemon. I usually get all technical. It's one of my many flaws. I'm interested to know what you find.

or put on a football game and shoot off a dozen shots as the second click off on the screen and check them ;- )

I picked up the D7000 a month or so ago. Every SLR/DSLR that I've owned either had the vertical grip built in or added via the battery pack/grip add-on. For me the D7000 MB-D11 combo is differnent. I find it makes the camera less comfortable to hold. Not sure what it is exactly but it really doesn't work for me. To the question though...the FPS certainly seem more confident with the MB-D11 attached...not sure if that means a higher rate though.

Hmm, if it does increase the FPS, i might have to go out and buy one.

Having a problem with a MB-D11 battery grip. If I set the shutter speed at 1/1000 or faster the cammera gives an err in the display and the mirror stays in the locked position. I can press the shutter release again an it clears the error. If i go down to 1/800 it will allow me to take a few frames continuous then give me this same err message. Works fine at any speed below 1/640. I purchased this about a month ago on ebay direct from China (that may be the problem). I used this battery grip last week with no problems. Get the same error message with all of my lens. I use the faster shutter speeds because I take alot of sports pictures. Anybody have any ideas?

@tsandecl
I assume that the error only happens when you use the shutter button that's on the grip. I'm also assuming that once you take off the grip that your lenses and shutter speed work normally. I know they're obvious questions but you didn't specifically mention that. Anyway, if you answered yes to both then check the link above and the video in it. I believe there are some pointers there to spot if your grip is a fake or not. Good luck.
Also, just to clarify, linking to other websites actually is allowed as long as they don't violate one of the two conditions below:
a) The linked websites cannot be commercial. The exceptions to this rule are NR sponsors which include Amazon, B&H, Adorama, Photojojo... (for the full list check the "forum rules" thread).
b) The links don't violate any copyright laws (e.g., links to pirated materials).I believe these are the only rules for posting links. If I forgot anything or made a mistake then maybe one of the admins here or other senior members can post a correction.

@Iris,
I did find some links, but those were on websites that have differend/ competing sponsors, and did not realy bother to google any further, since the OP could also do this for her-/himself ...( just my lazyness... :-) )
