OK, so Kodak dumps Kodachrome support. Does anyone know if anyone's stepped up to the plate of manufacturing it as a third-party?
I mean, if Kodak wants to wash it's hands clean of it, fine. But I can't see why someone else can't license it from Kodak to pick up slack. At the very least, the processing chemistry should be licensed if (legally) necessary.
It's not clear if Dwayne's is just ending this because it also wants to wash it's hands of this process, or simply because processing chemistry is not available from Kodak any longer.
This should be interesting if someone does want to pick up the slack, because if they learned a lesson from the Polaroid fiasco, they'd have to scramble quickly for all of the hardware needed for manufacturing it or suffer the same fate as Polaroid.
Perhaps it's simply wishful thinking on my part, but I can't see someone with the right resources not being enterprising enough to see an opportunity and jumping on it.
If third party Kodachrome was available, even at (let's say) twice the price, would you buy it?
