So, i have been looking around in the last few weeks at all sorts of photography forums and i thought to myself, why doesn't NR have a "fan" club if you will. Im sure everyone has an idea or two on the topic, if it was something the site owners would want. I for one, would love to have an official member card made up and an icon near my name.
Thoughts? ideas?

well its more of a, hey lets get a club that supports this website. We would do something like pay 5 us dollars to be used to help the site, and then maybe we get a card sent in the mail saying we are supporting members. As for the icon, i mean there has to be a way to add a little start or something under the short little amount of info there. So say you are a member you get a star next to or under you forum name. Then if you sign up again, maybe yyou get 2 stars etc.
It boils down to see if the community on here wants to help support the site better

Seriously, if you want to help us pay some bills then just buy your D7000, or better yet your D3X, from one of our affiliate links. Dont forget to add the 200mm f2 and the 24mm f1.4 lenses to your order too.
I think it's a good idea! Other sites distinguish "contributing" members, as a "thank you" for monetary donations to the site's operators. I'm in!

lol. I think that this really could work, if we got everyone into this. Someone could design the membership card, someone could help or design the "fan cluB" members little icon. Then after that, we can see about make having a few contests to design t shirts, buttons, misc products and then sell at the nikon rumors store. i could think of about 4 rather funny nikon/ nikon rumors shirts.
How about we just turn into a pay site only? We can charge you guys $25 dollars for a yearly silver membership. Then when it's time for you to renew we'll force you up to upgrade to a more expensive gold membership. If you dont pay up we'll just delete your account. No wait, that's already been done by another forum :^(
There's already a thread about selling NR t-shirts and doing a contest for a shirt design. The problem is we can't sell anything with "Nikon" written on it.

hehehe, I don't mind to get a part of the $25 :), as I presume admin will share a little bit with us mods ;) and considering our number of members... I could afford N600/4 by the end of this quarter :D... THAT'S THE WAY GUYS :)
but seriously, I don't mind NR t-shirt's but as for now, if You want to support us just buy using the links from this site. You ain't gonna pay a penny more, and admin's pocket will grow :D
lol i love the fact i have a title now!! Also, i think there could be shirts like " NikoDoby closed my thread" or something that gets asked alot on the site here. I would pay 20 bucks for a shirt. As for the the nikonians comment, LMAO
Could you get away with yhe NR logo and just "NikonRumors.com"? You are only using the website name instead of the Nikon name. maybe you can give out patches for 1000 posts etc.. OR not to go off track but we can do NR awards for 2010. some suggested categories include...
- most picture a day posts in one day
- most posts closed
- best lens / camera recommendation
- best search before starting a new thread

I'm loving this thread, by the way, and if I wasn't always saving up for gear I would love a "NikoDoby closed my thread." t-shirt.
Michael, I like the new role. I would feel more smug about mine but I didn't actually do anything to earn it. The Mods smiled on me, I guess. (I'm suddenly reminded of the film The Mods Must Be Crazy...or whatever it's called, exactly.)
This is almost straight out-of-camera, minor color and contrast adjustments only. There were some stuck pixels in the shirt that I was worried about until my wife suggested the selenium sulfide hairware update and that cleared it right up like magic. I'm glad I can finally show this shirt to people who know what the devil it means.
oh i got a few more ideas for the shirts:
Do i need a tripod?
What the F stop!!
(front of shirt) Why are all my pictures dark?
(back of shirt) ...is the lens cap on?

If anyone's interested, here's the NR logo that I made for it. It's higher res than the website logo, but not an exact match. Cue cease and desist email from admin in 3...2...
