When will Nikon start selling a D300 with 16 or more MP. Most of the presnt owners would buy a new D300s if it had more MPs. This a great camera but falls behind the compition in this class of camera.
Come on Nikon get with it give the D300s more MPs
The D300 is what it is. When Nikon releases a 16+ MP D-X00 model, it will probably be along the lines of a D400.
And not likely would they make any announcement before Christmas. No need to lose d7000 sales at this point. Hope for first Q 2011 and end up with last Q is my "wag"
Id assume when the D4 comes out... A quick search should render several discussions on the subject... ;]
For what it's worth I was told 3rd quarter 2011 for the D400, the only spec information I was given was that it would have an inbuilt grip like the D3 series...my guess is that it'll have a tweaked D7000 sensor ?

I always thought that was a mistake, people like to think that when a new camera comes out it's the latest and the best, but by releasing the D300 with the D3 it made the D300 buyers feel a little like the poorer cousin.
I don't think they'll release them together.
Hi heartyfisher, everyone has their contacts and I was told that info by someone how has better contacts than I, I've no reason to doubt that person but he himself may have been given wrong information ?
??? The D300 was a hot seller because it was presented as a small D3 (there was no D700 at the time). I don't think it was a mistake. It was great. People were talking about the dynamic duo for months after the announcement. Not everyone can afford or justify a D3 camera but the D300 was obtainable. It's kind of like unveiling a new sports car along side it's big $$$ race car version. Nobody wants to drive a race car everyday as a daily driver.
However I don't think well see a D4/D400 joint announcement. We might see a D4/D800 pair up. Unless the D400 is full frame... :^)
