@tai - really wonderful place, and really great shots.
@poster – Tokina 11-16 is definitely not a portrait lens unless you like disproportionate noses or similar. On DX minimum I would use is 50 or 75 on full frame, though I really like your sense to capture that human moment on your photos.

@mb
I was considering the Tokina only for full pose of a person. I wasn't thinking of using it as a close up for portraits. I have Sigma 50mm 1.4 for that. On DX it give me nice tight frame of the head and shoulders. I just need something for a full pose. I am thinking of getting something like a 200mm as well to nicely isolate the whole person from the background. But for now I lack in funds for it.
Thanks for the compliments mate. I still have a lot to learn.

Am I the only one who gets lost scrolling up and down trying to match all the comments to all the photos? Perhaps there should be a limit to the number of photos one can post per week or month?. Or just give your pictures titles or numbers so readers know who's comment goes with which picture.
Just saying :-)
I like all the photos so far though.

You'll get used to it :)

In the streets of Chinatown. Jeff Fisher- Crane Style

I think there's a better solution to this. Admin if you could introduce the feature of quoting it would be superb. But people would hopefully not quote every damn photo, like it's common in other forums, where one photo can be seen on every page, because somebody liked it.

A quoting feature would be great!

@poster: The picture is great apart from the nipped off foot.

Thanks monty11.
I never take more than one lens with me whenever I go shooting. I had only 70-300 with me. I was at 70mm but with DX its about 90mm. I had no more room to back down. Ohh well life goes on. He was a fun person to shoot though. Quite crazy(not in a good way)too. here's another pic of him.

For reference you could use something like this.

@poster, that guy looks like a great subject, nice portrait, I really like it.

indeed nice portraits poster
@mb - nope it's my in-laws, I'm more like doggish person :) - as for Your picture, You could try a little bit different perspective - put Yourself on the ground so You could be on cat's eye level - this perspective really works for them
@bickhal - I love the reflection in the mirror, nice framing, the only one thing that distracts me is the pink couch in the background - apart from that I've edited Your post as the image wasn't displaying at all (the code was too complex, You can't use div's when You placing a photo here), it looks like Your hosting server has some problems with sharing the image on other sites (I've putted the image on different server, so everybody could see it - if You don't agree with this please let me know, will take it from there), have You used some other hosting services (i.e.flickr)
@gentoo - nice duck, love the eyes and the feathers definition

@adamz, those eyes are just incredible.
Here's a shot from Osaka with the Tokina 11–16mm f/2.8 which i've used so much lately.

mb and bickhal: How cute those cats are! I love 'em. Makes me want to go steal your pets. You both seemed to have captured their moods in their eyes.
adamz, interesting work with DOF on your dog. Also another nice pet shot.
tai, I always love night shots and this is no exception.

@monty11 Thanks.Yeah he was pretty funny to shoot.
@taiI see what you mean about Tokina not being all that sharp. good shot though
here's something from yesterday from Central Park, some street photography
"Mama... who 's that?"

@adamz: Thanks for straightening out my last post. "@bickhal - I love the reflection in the mirror, nice framing, the only one thing that distracts me is the pink couch in the background" Sorry about the distraction, but this was a spontaneous opportunity, not staged, so I couldn't remove other objects reflected without missing the reflection of "Il divo" that I saw when I captured this photo! I was able to clone out a few others.
