    Oh i really like the snowy tilt shift picture!

    also, here is a pic from my recent walk-around. Please tell me what you think. I'm a bit nervous posting. I've only been shooting since mid October.

    @bland - thanks for the kind words in the last post; I agree but they also seem to be missing the oomph of a punchline, which bothers me
    @squamish - awesome capture
    @regulator - love that effect
    @michael - it looks like you're experimenting with depth of field, texture and color and it's coming along! keep it up!

    I've haven't been out shooting but I've been trying to learn how to properly prep and print black and white photos. It's been fun but challenging to find a decent print shop near where I live, and putting frames on a wall in an artful manner isn't something I've done before (and so they remain on my dining room table while I figure out what I want to do).

    Thanks, PB PM.

    The forecast looks pretty amazing for the weekend. A friend and I are getting up before sunrise to burn through some film as the sun comes up and then we're throwing the canoe onto the Delica and heading up river. The plan is to drop the boat in about 10km up the Squamish river and then ride it out to the estuary filling our cards up as we go with whatever presents itself. If you see two jackasses with 300mm zipping past you in a yellow canoe wave or say hi.

    Nice captures so far everyone. I think the more I view these images the more I spot things in my daily doings that would make good photos.

    @Studio460 and @Stanschurman, I recently tried the "storefront thru glass" captures but I guess I'll have to get a polarizer for those. Too much reflection in my images.

    @kaos; good capture of a not so carefree sport. I once met an unfortunate 19 year old college kid, home for Christmas break, went to the beach and landed terribly wrong on one of those - now a quadriplegic.

    Thanks Squamish.

    Surely any modern DSLR beats that old Coolpix, but it had been a good lightweight companion for many years. I paid an insane $1500 for it about 6 years ago. Today I could get a D7000 and a lens for that price. I now shoot with a D700 but I am still curious to see how much better the newer Coolpix are. Too bad these shots are not geotagged.
