That was dumb! Didn't seem like his gear was in any danger to me. I've seen a D3 fall off a moving truck. It got a few scratches but worked just fine. His gear never left his hand. And beside he's F'ing Joe McNally. His wife works for Nikon and I'm sure he's insured up the A**

lol Yea i agree, it was dumb. But, he did get the shot, and he switched hands as he was falling. I didnt notice it at first, but saw it the second time i watched. Also, lmao

He switches hands to brace himself for the fall, not to catch the camera. His left hand was holding the lens almost the entire time. His camera was never in need of being saved. He could have easily shattered a knee or elbow though.

Has nothing to do with being a pro photographer either.

A couple years ago on a cruise to Alaska I was walking just at dusk with my camera in my right hand. Walked up a side walk that had been poured a couple days earlier and they had left a 2" pipe stub sticking up that was essentially the same color as the new cement. It wasn't flagged at all and I didn't see it in the poor light. Of course I kicked it with my right foot and went down on my right side. Knowing I had the camera on that side I swung that hand up out of the way and went down on that elbow instead.

A lot of pain to save a stupid piece of equipment...

That video has been posted numerous times already. Its just viral marketing for insurance or a website or something like that.
