Seen it on the front page of vimeo. Pretty amazing. Particularly the star gazing pictures. I am a sci-fiholic so I am biased. :)
Wow fully captivated for the entire 2+ minutes! The hot air balloons were really something and I thought the shifting sky through time lapsing over Mono lake was excellent as well. No wonder he was atronomy's photographer of the year. Amazing!
Yea the guy really has a talent. It really makes me want to go out and shoot.

Everyone's talking about the the D7000, and I'm almost as excited for the next Wheel of Time book (shipped yesterday). Okay, not technically sci-fi; I just checked Isaac Asimov's autobiography out from the library today. He's about as sci as you get.
That video is so inspiring! I can't wait for my D7000 so I can do some time lapse.
I got the new wheel of time book today, but i like David Weber's stuff more. Also, i have done a few time lapse tests on my d7000. I got some rather nice results and im in an area that gets light pollution.
Yup. Gorgeous! Time-lapse, motion-control dolly shots never fail to impress! Can't wait to use the intervalometer on the D7000 myself!

Hi JA, thanks for the heads up about the WOT book. Will check to see if its in OZ this weekend! Time to reread the last book ! :-) The new author did a decent job of that last one!
@MDR: That video is inspiring ! Thanks for posting!
@JA : PS WOT OMG
Thanks for the vid, hearty. Have they done others for other books? This is the first I've seen. I've been looking forward to Moiraine coming back into the series for a long time.
lol not to hijack the topic, but if you like the new WOT book, brandon sanderson wrote his own book as well. ITS VERY LONG, but rather good. its called the way of the kings...
Also, does anyone here do a lot of astrophotography? I went out and did a few more tests and i think i could really get into this type of photography. Any helpful tips?
Niko will probably delete a lot of this, but that's okay. Sometimes a thread just needs to be hijacked.
There are some great astrophotographers on the forum (usernames astrophotographer and The Ridgeback come to mind—I'm probably forgetting others. Sorry!). I'd also like to get into astrophotography someday. I have access to my department's equatorial mount now but have been too busy to try it out. Someday soon now that the darkness comes earlier...
I actually ordered The Way of Kings with Towers of Midnight. I hesitated to start another long series after what happened with WoT (I started it in 1994!), but since they announced he'd be finishing up for Jordan I've read almost everything Sanderson has written and loved everything I've read. He's perfect for WoT because he knows how to end stories.
LOL "Knows how to end stories" ! Yes thats whats needed for this series :-) PS the Trailer was shot with Canon DSLR by WOT fans. directed by the dragonmount web master. should check out "The making of" web pages. very detailed and interesting notes and comments esp for a videographer wanabe like myself.. (well maybe its made me a donwanabe now :-) . so much work involved for that 1 min. ) as for astrophotography.. I live in a big city and the sky just has too much light polution here.. sigh ...
