Is there a Nikon serial number database for DSLR bodies?

I know of a site that has lens serial RANGES in it, but not bodies.
did you have one stolen are are you trying to verify a purchase?

I also collect guitars and most of the "top" makers have databases where you can see where your guitar was made, what date and quite a few other bits of information. Just wondered if it was the same with cameras.
