Adorama Buy Back - Any experience?

Hi Everyone --

In another post I mentioned the D700 purchase I intend to make. In preparation for dropping that kind of coin, I'm sending my D60 kit to Adorama for a buy-back quote. The gentleman on the phone mentioned they generally paid "70% of Market Value."

Anyone have any good/bad experiences with Adorama's trade department or recommend any other company online for buy-back? I'd rather not go the craigslist/ebay route, but depending on how much their quote is, I might feel compelled.

Based on just an e-mail request, and a returned phone call a day or two later, I had Adorama quote me on sending in my Nikkor 180mm f/2.8 and a 70-200mm f/2.8, and they offered a price about twice that of what Samy's Camera offered me locally. They immediately sent me a pre-paid mailer in the mail while I thought about their offer. I decided to keep the lenses, but I think they're possibly the best place to sell your old gear if you don't want the hassle of Ebay or Craig's list.

Yea, you're trading cash for convenience.
Though, if you're selling a D60 body only the cash differential is going to be small. That's about $300 (body only) on craigslist - I wouldn't deal with the hassle for $50, though YMMV.

It's nice to see a vendor posting here! I'm always happy to report good experiences with vendors, and Adorama's used sales department was a pleasure to deal with. The associate I was dealing with was prompt, professional and courteous.
