But if done in pshop there would be no pride or sense of accomplishment, and we wouldn't hear of it.

iDunno thats sad but true. This looks like the real deal though and Kyoshinikon is right if it was photoshoped we wouldn't hear about it. These days people are as good at detecting photoshop in images as people are at creating them. I know I can spot photoshopping 90% of the time :)
I would have to imagine that before publishing the photo, the major news agencies checked to make sure it was not Photoshopped first. They'd look really stupid if it was, then again, stranger things have happened.
