Fargo. I hear you. I even agree with you (for the moment). Then, my NAS kicks in and my agreement dissipates. I want my Nikon. I've wanted it for months. I will drive my wife nuts talking about it. I will examine photos from my current camera at 200% and determine that it is insufficient and the focus on the D7000 must be better (without even seeing the damn thing in person). That is my lot in life. That is why I am here. This is the exact opposite of a self-help group. This is a place for us lunatics to congregate and receive support to continue our addiction. So, fair or not, I will drive everyone crazy, including customer service reps, until my desire is sated. That, unfortunately, is the customer service reps lot in life. I am his worst-case customer. Most of us fit that bill. To him, I say: tough sh*t, give me my f(#*%ng camera!

Thanks Anjz! I already felt bad for asking BH and had tried really hard not to ask, but did.
And you're right! In total I have spent $1800 at BH this month.. I know that may not be a ton to them, but that's a lot for me and I chose them, and the cost of shipping, over somewhere else. I'm sure BH has at least some information, but they gave me none. The customer service rep was nice, so I'm not really complaining, But I think we deserve at least some info. Even telling me that they expect to ship within 4 weeks would have satisfied me for now. Or if Nikon is delaying, they could mention something. "We've been advised by Nikon to release no information about possible ship dates." Crappy, but acceptable.
I know we all need to be patient, but I've been shooting with a very low end dslr camera for over 2 years and have watched plenty of non-photographer friends get much better cameras than mine. I felt the limits of my current camera within a few months of receiving it. I didn't think I would be able to get a great camera anytime in the future and now that I have, I'm very anxious. Silly as it is, this is a dream come true to me.. So yea, I'm anxious and lacking patience.Posted 2 years ago # -
In actuality though Fargo, if they would just list updated information on the product page, I bet they would be getting a lot fewer calls.
Example:
Estimated release: Oct. 29th
Updated release: Nov. 15th
Updated status: Release no longer known. Will update as soon as known.Something as simple as that would keep many from calling and asking because they feel like the store will in fact update as soon as they know and there would be no need to call because the site is already updated with most current info.

It's their god damn duty to the customers to keep them in the loop. You want to treat your customers as annoying brats, go right ahead. I will take my money elsewhere. There are 5 other stores willing to do business with me. Simple as that.
Some of you think that we might be annoying and etc. Well if you charge my credit card I expect you to keep me in the loop and answer my annoying questions.

Amazon probably sells 80,000,000 items. Do you really think they have someone on standby every day, working on updating the release date of one of them?

You think that it's just one lonely guy sitting night and day in a cubicle answering our questions?
But even simpler plan would be to just update their website as the poster above me mentioned.

They are still 3rd party. They get release date from Nikon, then pass release date to us. They have no control over the release date. Nikon does. It's up to Nikon to provide them with a set date, then they can in turn provide buyers with one.

Why pay the sales tax at Best Buy? Just wait with Amazon and save a little cash. Even 5% in some states will be $60 sales tax. Higher in other states.Yes makes sense!!! But buying online and in-store pickup would be the way to go I guess, if they don't charge sales tax or even better if I could get it online from them early and not as amazon mentioned during Nov 22-26. I'm traveling outside country on vacation starting on Nov 16th, and hence the urgency...

Oh, Delaware doesn't have sales tax? Didn't know that. I believe NH doesn't either. Not sure of any others. Yes, if you're in those states, you luck out and walk in, test it, and walk out with no tax, which is something we can't do online.

I'm changing the title of this post from "NIKON D7000 TO BE RELEASED ON NOV 15TH 2010" to "NIKON D7000- (Estimated Release Dates)". I've closed the other thread discussing delivery dates because there is no reason to have two. Here is the link to the other thread: http://nikonrumors.com/forum/topic.php?id=2552
Let's please not turn this thread into a vendor bashing thread. Nobody knows exactly when you guys will all get your D7000. You're just going to have to be patient. If you can't wait then buy a D90, D300S or better yet the D700. If you sold off your old camera then don't blame anyone but yourself for not having a camera. I'm going to start deleting post if all you guys do is complain and say stuff like, "I still don't have my camera so I'm suing so and so because they already charged my credit card and I pre-ordered so I deserve a camera from the first shipment...blah, blah, blah".
Let's try to keep this an informative thread and not turn it into a "spit cup".

Called Best Buy today, the rep said If I place the order today the D7000 will be shipped next Monday the 18th.

You know well enough that I didn't say that. Moreover, I didn't blame Amazon for anything. In fact, I love that you are putting words in my mouth. Yeah I will sue them alright. Give me a freaking break Niko. I never said that. In fact nobody ever said anything about suing anybody.
All I said was the truth. Why should we, the customers, just not have the right to ask and "annoy" the stores where we spent our money at. If you charge my credit card, you initiate a transaction, therefore I should be kept in the loop as in to the whereabouts and the possible date of shipment of my item. Is that too much too ask for. Hey all Amazon all other merchant has to do is be transparent and not lie or plainly act dumb about. Just say "Hey Nikon, is a little late with the shipment so it will take a little longer" If a business cares about its customers it will keep them in the loop of information. And a customer is entitled to it.
The only thing I am raving here about is the fact that customer service of some merchants shouldn't be vague/lazy/uninformative. Is that too much to ask for?
All merchants love taking the money, but it's harder keeping the their customers in the loop if you already had taken their money. Hmmm... I guess I must be the only one who thinks there's something screwed up here.
And yes I am anxious and disappointed.

Regarding Best Buy... I was told by the sales rep on the phone yesterday that preordered items usually ship the day before release (in this case she said either friday October 15 or Monday October 18 at the latest). I placed my order September 20 (they listed it on their website sept 19th).. so hopefully I'll be in the first shipping batch. All of these amazon and B&H reports seem discouraging though that it will actually ship on their expected date.
Also- to answer people's questions of why order from best buy instead of amazon: best buy is offering 3 years 0% interest on their store credit card, so I'll be able to split the cost of the camera over a few months and pay it off.

I just wanted to chime in on the whole "bugging" Amazon thing. Amazon is not a small person. It is not even a small business, where a phone call might go to the same person over and over again who would rather be doing other things.
Amazon is a giant company with a huge staff of technical support and customer service. My calling these people is also called "job security" for them. If we all stop calling then we just fired a bunch of employees.

The Nov. 15th just doesn't fit. D3100 shipped 30 days after announcement. So have all recent cameras released in the past couple years. Then coincide this with recent hype, the digitutor release, etc then to have to wait another month... doesn't make sense. I say, give this 1 more week for updates before we lose our heads.
But in 1 week, yeah rioting may be condoned.
Posted 2 years ago # -
Yea, I agree and get that. ^^
But if they are going to ship in a week or so, then I just don't understand why they are keeping the ship date/release date so under wraps at most places. Best Buy seems to be the only one that people are getting a solid us ship date from and we don't even know if that's true.
I must remind myself to be patient. Hmmm.Posted 2 years ago # -

CSRs at both vendors say there is no inventory of the product yet--not in the CSRs database anyway. BB though told me they usually come up with customer estimated delivery dates based on manufacturer shipping notification.

Does anyone know if when it's officially released the Nikon store will have it in stock?
I find it funny that other places might have it before them.

Someone on the Amazon forum for the D7000 is claiming to have received an email from Amazon that his D7000 has shipped.
According to poster he literally refreshed Amazon all day on the 14th and placed his order 5 seconds after it appeared on the site with 1-click enabled so he was probably the first person to place his order.
Good news if true.

I don't buy it. If that was to be true many more people would be getting the same notices. It doesn't matter if you had ordered the 5 seconds after the option was available or a day later. Amazon gets huge batches of cameras, they won't be sending out each camera separately based on the time they received the preorders. They will first distribute it to their regional warehouses in big batches. From then on the cameras will start shipping out based on the place in line.

+1 with Poster.
All of you are NOT going to get a D7000 at the same time. Some people will get theirs before others. A pre-order does NOT guarantee anything! Some of you will walk into your local store and buy a D7000 off the shelf because you have good timing and just got lucky. Those people will then post to this thread just to piss off everyone who pre-ordered the first day and are still waiting.
This camera is going to ship out in waves. So just get use to the wait.

I'm a NR newbie so I hope this is taken lightly...but I must say...this thread is getting somewhat comical. : ) Trust me, I'm in in the same boat. I preordered a D7K body from B&H but I'm waiting patiently because I know it'll show up sooner or later.
