Has anyone who purchased a Nikon from amazon ordered the Squaretrade warranty protection plan. 3 yr for 209.99?

Is it worth it? Are there other, better protection plans I can go with. Perhaps from Nikon themselves? My only concern is, I think other protection plans from like Best Buy I think offer a direct replacement for some accidental damage, though this eems to imply all they will do is fix. I mean which could be better or worse, right?

But anyways, here's the link. http://www.amazon.com/SquareTrade-Camcorder-Warranty-Protection-1000-1250/dp/B002I007HG/ref=pd_wty_hqp_img_2_B0042X9LC4?pf_rd_p=1275958002&pf_rd_s=hero-quick-promo&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0042X9LC4&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1QDPK7HZEVT1MVYHZ19A

    Thinking of picking this up.

For that price, it ought to cover accidental damage.

If you're just looking for extended warranty coverage, Mack warranties are the way to go.

Save your money as I don't think this is worth the extra price. You can buy a new lens or SB600 for almost that price. Besides this isn't an Amazon protection plan. It's sold by another company (Squaretrade). If any goes wrong with the camera within the first year Nikon will takecare of you. Check with your home owners/vehicle insurance to see if you are already covered if your camera gets stolen or falls into a volcano.

Good idea. Yeah I also didn't like the idea of going with a third party.. I've had my other cameras last just fine, just worried if I can't be too careful with this one.

Thanks for the response, I'll definitely check out this Mack.

Just a quick question, does Nikon also have a 5 year plan with flashes, or is that with lenses and bodies only?

Isn't is 1 year on bodies also? I think lenses are the only 5 year.

I just bought my D7000 (yay!) last week in Canada (London Drugs) and it comes with a 2 year Nikon warranty, extendable by another 2 through the in-store warranty (which I didn't purchase). But it doesn't cover accidents/spills. Nikon gives lenses in Canada and the US 5 years.

edit: I just checked and because I bought the camera with Visa, I got a 3rd year of warranty (through Visa) which also cover's theft & damage. Yes!
