Besides from waiting 6 months before prices might fall here in Australia, what about getting a D7000 from the US?
I have a friend in the US who could buy me one, and send it over.
Besides the different plug, what other disadvantages may occur for me??Posted 2 years ago # -
By the time you pay for shipping twice you won't be saving any money and just annoying your friend. Stop living in Australia if you can't afford it.

Pre-oder price of AUS$1,995 = 1,930 US$ BODY ONLY ...........makes you wonder ...
The difference to US 1,200 = AU$ 1,220 should easily make up for shipping ....Posted 2 years ago # -
You won't see any discounts on the D7000 here in the US for quite a while. That goes for any "kits" too. In maybe a year you'll starts to see "rebate" start in kit combos but not before then. And don't expect any type of discounts right out of the box at launch time.

Apart from the warranty issues I don't see much else standing in a way. Keep in mind that you could always just get yourself Ozzie version of the charger to mitigate using the power adapter.

as for nikon body warranty it's on regional base - US works in US, Europe works in Europe. however, You can buy lenses with world-wide warranty

You could get a job at Nikon or some retailer that sells them. I got my D300 for about $400-$500 less than retail that way.

About the only other option you'd have would be to buy a bunch of stuff at Best Buy and use the coupons they give you. The problem with that is that you'd have to spend about $2000 to save, what, twenty bucks? :)

Uh, isn't Australia closer to the manufacturing site?
