I really like the effect from the spotlights on the right side of the photo, Abhinav.

Nikkor 105mm & focus stacking, first attempt. Goes along with this month theme...Posted 2 years ago # -
Squamish: That last shot is one of the best I've seen from you on here. Everything works, especially the smile you got out of her.
Abhinav: Great shot, as were the rest in the set (took a peek on Flickr).
AdamZ: That looks like you'd have reptile nose grease on your lens if he'd been any closer. :)
Smarterchild: Where was that taken? Looks like it belongs in a movie.

It was taken at Lotus world music Festival in Downtown kirkwood (Bloomington Indiana).

Thanks adam and aslightdelay,
She was a total ham that day. I was wishing for auto focus quite a bit during that shoot because every time she'd laugh and smile she would throw her head back and forward and go in and out of the thin range of focus that F2 on the 85mm AIS gives you. Got lucky enough times it would seem. :]

I am comparing D700 macro photo taken with my new Nikon 105mm micro, here is one taken with the nikon 70-200mm VR II and 68mm of Kenko extension tubes. No editing except for cropping. So far, beside the 70-200 being harder to handle, I see no optical advantage for the 105mm and even prefer the DoF of the 70-200mm.Posted 2 years ago # -

@squamish I like that owl; the moss really adds character

@squamish great shot of that Barred Owl! The call of those owls is so strange and loud! I had one outside my tent one night when I was camping last month.

AF Nikkor 85mm f/1.8Posted 2 years ago # -

Nikon 105mm f2.8, 9 shots focus stacked in CS5. The subject is a 2 inch tall sterling silver sculpture I made many years ago.I made the original sculpture in jewelry wax which was then caste in silver via the lost-wax technique. Once out of its plaster mold, I made a rubber mold of the first copy in silver to create 2 new slightly modified copies. I left the one you see to oxidize to give it this black look by leaving it exposed to humidity and sun.
@squamish: I love that shot of the Owl. Very nice. Was this taken in the wild? What lense?

Thanks Pierre, Rob and elvis!
This was taken last year in the wild with a 105VR that I no longer own. Its an adolescent Barred owl, maybe half the size of an adult. I was maybe 5 feet from him when I snapped this and about 100 other shots. He didn't seem to care about me in the slightest.
