I was looking around for other sources to buy this Camera. I pre-ordered a D7000 on Amazon, but I see a ton of other people pre-ordering it on multiple websites. Why? You think you'd get it once it was released if you pre-ordered it, right?. I better or there will be hell to pay haha.

Anyways, looked at Best Buy, found the link and clicked the estimated shipping time.

Their popup showed they estimated arrival date between 10/17-10/22/2010 :) I hope that holds true for other places like Amazon!

A pre-order is not a guarantee that you will receive a camera from the first, second, or third shipment. There's also no guarantee that it won't get cancelled for whatever reason either. Read the fine print wherever you order from. They usually say that more or less in those words. The D7000 is going to be hard to find.

Lord I hope Amazon, is first come first serve, definitely got my pre-order in at 1AM after announcement. Hmm Perhaps I'll pre-order it elsewhere then and hope one comes in and I guess cancel the others.

Thanks for the heads up Niko

Same here... hoping to be part of the first shipment from Amazon, as I ordered it at 2:08AM Central time on the 15th. Can't wait! :D

I've worked out a deal with a local camera shop to have one for me to get on the day of, problem is I am having such a hard time selling off gear that I might not have the cash in time :(

Amazon informed me it's on a first come first served basis. I got mine in at 1:10AM EST on the 15th. They said that should be fine for the first shipment, but I can only speculate how many others were in that same time period or if that customer service employee really understood the popularity of the product and how many Amazon would have available for the shipment. So fingers still crossed! :|

Hope you get the gear off your hands in time for the shipment Krev! I might consider checking with a Ritz down the street from me.

    Thanks!

If this October 17th date holds true then I will be about 400$ short. I mean I could sell my D80 and Tokina lens for really low but the other 900$ will be from savings and I'll need to replenish that.

Hopefully my D90 will still be able to net me a good price after I get the D7000.

Wait, do we know when the MB-D11 will be out too? Or how much that is gonna run me?

Because I love the feel of my D90 with the battery grip on and I remember the torture my pinky had to endure without one.

Not sure when the MB-D11 will be out but it might be around November. Price should be about the same as the D300 grip.

I remember the sh!t storm that happened when amazon cancelled a bunch of "1st-in-line" pre-orders for the canon S90. I don't remember all of the details but people weren't sure why they're orders got cancelled. I think it had something to do with a price adjustment or something like that, I don't remember. So it has happened before.

I don't mean to be "Debbie Downer", I'm just pointing it out to those who think nothing can go wrong because they ordered 2 seconds after the D7000 unveiling :^)

Nah, I'm glad someone said something, I'll remain vigil on my order and prepared to give hell should anything happen. Hopefully Amazon has learned it's lesson and wouldn't do that to Nikon users haha.

Not sure when it'll be out, I saw on a website it was £349.00. But that seems way over priced for a pack that doesn't do much like the MB-D10. doesn't make sense that it'd be more expensive.

    party pooper

    **knocks on wood**

how's the battery grip going to look like? Flimsy as the shitty D200 one or stable?

I might just order one from Chinese sellers on ebay, if the price is too high or they are going to wait for long to start taking preorders for the battery grip.

I hope Amazon ships first too. However, I only ordered the body and have absolutely no lens. Gotta get one or two before then.

It's also Mag-Alloy and Weather Sealed.

Yeah I don't understand your logic Poster. You ask if the new grip is going to be flimsy and "city" like the D200 but then you say you'll just order one of those cheap Chinese ebay grips instead?!?

But with the cheap Chinese knock off ones they come with the free gift of led poisoning!

Argh I hope I have the cash for all this but let's say I don't get the cash in time, do you really think it will be sold out everywhere?

The other great thing about some third party grips is that they only work if the IR sensor is active, talk about awesome!

the MD-D200 whatever was horrible. . .but the MBD10 improved on that, so I would imagine the D11 will be woah - weather sealed, etc.. . .that's stout!

Yes and no. Maybe I wasn't clear so let me explain.

If it were to be flimsy as D200's one, I would rather not overpay for it and get a Chinese knock off instead. But as somebody already pointed out it's going to me mag alloy and weather sealed. So hopefully it will be reasonably priced (not more than $200)and that will justify me buying the Nikon one. But if it turns out that it's WELL above $200 and its build quality is flimsy than I won't be getting one. I might just wait until the price comes down, and either though out with out one or use the Chinese one for the time being.

@PB PM- Really? I thought that that was the case with older cameras , like D70, D40 etc which weren't build for having additional battery grip.( There weren't any contacts in the battery receiver to communicate with the camera) So the only means of communication was the IR receiver. I was pretty sure that D200 and above easily accepted Chinese "more expensive" knockoffs.

Those grips were mainly for older cameras, but I noticed that even some MB-D80 grips used the same method. I've never seen any MB-D10 knockoffs that use that method.

I really hope this will not be much more expensive than the mb-D80. Afterall, except for the better build quality it's no better.

so with the D80 being 130-ish and the D10 being 230-ish, im hoping the D11 is around 150.

But i figure it will realistically be 180-200. simply because Nikon has never been known for its cheap accessories.

$2 dollars! You paid too much. You should have gone to the .99 Cent store and gotten a programable TV/VCR remote. You can program it to fire your camera.
