    Hi

I want to purchase a used SB800/SB900 flash. But the used items are right now selling in much higher prices. Once SB700 is launched do you think the prices for the used items will come down a bit?

I will then wait for a few months.

    Thanks

Why? The SB700 is replacing the SB600 not the 900. The 800 was replaced like what, two years ago-something like that. So the price for that model will always continue to fall regardless of what Nikon announces next.

Like everything after the initial hype, all prices will come down for electronic equipment esp if it does not sell that well.

There's always specials coming on just have to wait for it, otherwise buy a good used one if you need it now...its a how long you have to wait is the issue and what is a price your hoping it will go down to.

I too am looking for a speedlight and have done a net search on all authorised nikon dealers in the area so I know the best price it is being offered at, so that is bargaining tool going into the shops and I need one very soon so I'm just going to have to get the best price right now in the current market and bargain hard and get the best deal possible...

The second hand price of an SB 800 may go down
but I would go for the SB900, it's a lot more user friendly especially if you more than one gun and want to use as a Master. The SB900 will also zoom to 200mm

I wouldn't necessarily hold my breath for a price drop on the SB800 or SB900. As noted, the SB700 (SB650?) will be replacing the SB600. I don't think the market will be flooded with used higher end speedlights. You may get a good price on used SB600s.

Would recommend getting the SB700 and not getting the 800 or 600 - the UI is AMAZING on the SB900, and since Nikon has dragged their feet this long on releasing the 700, I would imagine additional enhancements worth the $220 or so it should retail at. . .

I've purchased a SB900 and have been anxiously awaiting the SB700 release so I can get 2 700's for a slick wedding shoot setup. .

I see the SB600s dropping by $50 or so but not the 800 or 900s. Hell sb800's are still going for $350+ on ebay.

This is the one area where I'm always missing (besides the obvious output, zoom, iTTL, etc) what more improvements mean and works with what and can do what.
