Does anyone know if the D7000 will allow you to use AIS manual focus Nikkors in Aperture priority mode like the D300 and D3 do?
If it does I would consider it at $1000

Unfortunately I can't see Nikon supporting this late in the game when the D70/80/90 all did not support meter coupling. To meter couple with the old lens would require more to produce. I have used my old AI lens and pre AI lens with my D70's and D100. I love my D300s for meter coupling it works great with all my many old Nikon lens
I wouldn't be so sure, S_P. If they really do make this more like a D90/D300s hybrid it may have the AI-S ring. You might wait a while for $1000, though, dellaaa!
wait is the key ! keep patience till 15th of this month
I hope they do support it.
I thought the d7000 was going to sell for about $1000 is that not correct?
If I remember right I think what we have heard is that body only will be about 1200. Of course we'll see, this may or may not be right. I'm curious as to what the kit will clock in at, as I don't have a single wide range af lens. Mine are all old nikkors and other brands.
This is an interesting question because the D7000 specs seems to make it between a D300 and a D90 (not speaking of MP and stuff like that, you know what I mean anyway)
100% viewfinder
46 AF points
magnesium body.
I currently own a D300 and I need 1080p video... I want to stick with Nikon because of my lenses and because I don't like to have insane pain in my fingers all day long (you know what I mean)
So this D7000 might be a downgrade in a way (I'm scared but button layout will be closer to the D90 and I love the D300 so much) but I think I'll do it... can't wait anymore and my initial plan to jump to full frame right now will be delayed a bit.
Back on topic.
For 1200$ this is a camera that will replace the Dxx series.. which means you won't get all pro features.. I'll already be impressed if we get a 100% viewfinder on that one.
If they add this kind of D300 features it could mean that the D400 will be even more interesting.. that would simply show that Nikon cares about competition and want to raise the quality of their products.
so what happens if i mount my 100mm f2,8 AIS micro nikor on this?
how is it useable
The D7000 will meter with AI lenses! YESS.
If it meters wide open then i will buy it.
do u know if it will
it will behave exactly the same way as d300/d700/d3 does, so yeas it will meter wide open, You just need to set the data correctly in the menu
its mine
By the looks of it, the D7000 won't meter the pre-AI lenses and the Lensbaby.
Mounting non-AI lenses on the D7000 would damage the aperture prong, just as it would on the D90, D80, D200, D300, D3 etc. The only Nikon cameras that you can safely mount all pre-AI lenses on are the AF-S only cameras.
