@ everyone, really nice work to all.
The light on the actor is from a single spot light set wide-ish. The stage behind him has a slight wash. It was taken on a tripod at 1/15 sec at f5.6.
Some vignetting of the lens has been done in the cornering with Adobe Camera Raw, a technique used in the following picture of another actor which is part of the ongoing series.

Treckie, she's got to be wearing a harness or something there. Physics says no on the hair—it would be in her face instead of hanging straight down. But a really cool shot, anyway!

@ Pierre: work of art! Detail I like is that the metal construction stops júst before the end of the picture, so that the building looks like a star (hope you get what I mean, have to improve my English...)! Beautiful!
@ Treckie: how on earth did you do this...I presume/hope the girl is ok...? Think johnnyapple is right about her hair. But still....weird!
@ studio460: another excellent picture, serious! Excellent done with the d.o.f., with the girls on their way to (or dreaming of) fame.
@ keney17: great lighting, excellent that you kept the detail in the trees outside.
@ Mike: I like the vignetting in your shot. Maybe pay attention that she doesn't press her arm to her leg this way, because now her arm looks bigger than it is.
One of my first portrait shoots, and couldn't resist to try my 24G, which of course is anything but a portrait lens...but I think it's kinda cool though (also thanks to her cool expression of course). This is at f1.6:
great composition arthur, great colors, girl looks nice, and to be honest the only concern I have is the focus, as it looks like it's more on face than on eyes, but this can be illusive as the picture is small, anyway great, powerful shot
@ArthurH I really like that shot. I think the amount of red in the image and leading lines make it stand out.

Jonny you are correct, she is wearing a harness, being suspended from a tree branch. This was part of a project for my daughter to experiment with different photographer's styles. It was a lot of fun.
Too many great shots! Nice shot Pierre its hard to keep up with all the nice work on here. I had a feeling Mike Gunter was going to have some skills! That shot of the actor is fantastic. I had to mention that again! haha Treckie your shots are great awsome action.

Wide-angle portraits can be tricky--but it looks like you got it! Perfect lens-height, and great art direction! And, thanks!

That's the thing about this thread; I'm seeing gorgeous shots from people of subjects that I wouldn't normally give a second thought. Certainly broadens your horizons.

@treckie: I thought there might've been some kind of trickery involved, but I'd have felt bad saying so if it turned out there hadn't been. :) Great shots.
@Regulator: Be honest, now: does Calgary REALLY look that beautiful, or is it just your photos? :)
@Abhinav: another nice one--you've really mastered the art of the vertical! Your subjects and compositions all seem so well-suited to portrait-orientations (oddly, I almost never shoot verticals).

studio - this shot is not looking good, it looks like it was shoot through glass or plexi - You should use polarizer to get rid of the reflections on girls face, or move a little bit so her face will be in one color (certainly not blue), also work a little bit on the composition, as the guys bending over are distracting, I would crop it a little bit or make one step closer and to the right
mike - great portrait
adamz, I think that look is what he was going for. It's a bit of a voyeur shot, I like it.
I agree with the crop (the guys are a bit of a distraction), but I like the way the light plays off the glass. It looks spontaneous, but by no means sloppy.
